Healthy Habits that Work

I know you have heard each of these probably close to a million times, but there's a reason for that: because they work.

1: Get enough sleep

The key word here is enough. Not everyone needs the same amount of sleep, and the sleep you need can vary depending on how much you exert yourself throughout the day. The General rule is 6-9 hours a night.

Why this works: Your brain needs to go through a cleansing process to continue to function properly, and that happens while most systems are at minimum output during sleep. If this process is not done thoroughly regularly then the whole engine (you) starts to malfunction.

Some argue this is the most important part of a healthy lifestyle

2: Drink enough water

The "enough" rule applies here too. A good amount to consume everyday is the number of lbs you weigh divided in 2 is the amount of oz of water you should drink per day. for example, if you weigh 200 lbs, you should drink 100 oz of water, or just under 1 gallon.

Another way to measure is your urine color. You should be going for a light yellow and not pure clear. If it is clear you are over hydrated.

Flavoring your water still counts. Just make sure to watch your sugar intake so you don't crash from the short lasting energy boost it may give you.

3: Take a walk

As an introverted homebody, this one irritated me too. However, if I'm ever having a rough day, a quick walk outside usually boosts my mood and energy.

If the weather outside is frightful, then finding an activity that gets you moving inside, such as dancing to some music, will work as well.
