Glutes, anyone?
My girl, Katie, absolutely roasted my legs last week. Genuinely sore for 4 days 🫣
Each set 3 x 8-12 reps (if you can only do 8, drop the weight. If you can do 12, increase the weight).
So many of us dream of seeing real 'before and after' changes in our glutes, especially that often-neglected gluteus medius! I've been on my own journey, and let me tell you, it's incredibly rewarding when you start to see those results. My recent 'leg day' session with my bestie left me genuinely sore for days, which is always a good indicator that the muscles were truly worked, paving the way for some amazing 'booty growth'! Why focus specifically on the gluteus medius? It's not just about aesthetics! This muscle, located on the outer side of your hip, plays a huge role in hip stability, preventing injuries, and even improving your gait. A strong gluteus medius contributes to that coveted rounded look we all chase, but more importantly, it makes everyday movements feel better and safer. If you're seeing a 'before' picture where your glutes lack that outer fullness, targeting this muscle is key for a more balanced and powerful 'after' look. Beyond just feeling the burn, I've found a few key exercises that really target this area. While the original post mentions sets of 3x8-12 reps, here are some specific moves I swear by that you can incorporate into your next leg day: Clamshells (with a resistance band): Lie on your side with knees bent and stacked. Keep your feet together and lift your top knee towards the ceiling, engaging your gluteus medius. Start with 3 sets of 15-20 slow, controlled reps on each side. The band intensifies the burn! Band Abductions (standing or seated): Place a resistance band just above your knees. If standing, push one leg out to the side against the band, keeping your core tight. If seated, push your knees outwards against the band. Aim for 3 sets of 12-15 reps, focusing on the squeeze. Cable Kickbacks (out to the side): Attach an ankle strap to a cable machine. Kick your leg directly out to the side, maintaining a slight bend in your standing leg and keeping your hips stable. This one is amazing for isolating the gluteus medius. Go for 3 sets of 10-12 reps per leg. Side-Lying Leg Raises: Simple but effective! Lie on your side with your legs straight. Slowly lift your top leg straight up towards the ceiling, keeping your foot flexed. Lower it down with control. Add an ankle weight for extra challenge. 3 sets of 15-20 reps on each side. It’s one thing to do the exercises, but how do you actually track those 'before and after' transformations to truly see your 'booty growth'? Consistency is Key: Just like my last workout left me sore for 4 days – that consistent effort is what builds muscle. Sticking to your routine, whether it's 2 or 3 dedicated 'leg days' a week, is paramount. You won't see results overnight, but dedication compounds. Progressive Overload: Remember the 3x8-12 rep range? When you can comfortably do 12 reps with good form, that's your cue to increase the weight, resistance, or even the number of sets. This constant challenge forces your muscles to adapt and grow stronger and bigger. Photos & Measurements: Don't underestimate the power of 'before' photos taken from the same angles every 4-6 weeks. Sometimes, the mirror lies, but photos don't! Also, taking hip and thigh circumference measurements can show subtle changes that are hard to spot otherwise. Listen to Your Body: Soreness, like what I experienced, is often a good indicator of an effective workout, but don't overdo it. Recovery is just as vital as the workout itself. Make sure you're getting enough protein to repair muscle tissue and ample sleep for overall recovery. Achieving those gluteus medius 'before and after' results takes dedication, but with the right exercises, consistency, and a focus on progressive overload, you'll be well on your way to stronger, shapelier glutes and amazing 'booty growth'! Keep logging those 'leg day' sessions, and get ready to celebrate your transformation!
