Answering: Where Did GOD Come From
Kevin Dewayne Hughes, Theologian
GOD is an infinite being. If GOD had a beginning or origin, He would not be infinite and thus GOD is uncreated. Asking who or what Created GOD is a category error.

In exploring the question of where God came from, it is important to understand the philosophical and theological implications of God's nature as an infinite being. Unlike created entities, God is traditionally understood in Christian theology as eternal and without beginning or end. This means God exists outside the constraints of time and space as we know them. From my own experience studying theology, I have found that many people struggle to grasp the idea that some questions are based on human categories that do not apply to divine beings. Asking what created God assumes God had a starting point, but if God were created, He would no longer be infinite. This perspective follows the principle that infinite beings cannot have an origin, because origin implies a limitation or a starting boundary. The concept also ties into classical arguments for God's existence, like the cosmological argument, which concludes that there must be an uncaused cause—something that exists necessarily rather than contingently. This uncaused cause is what many identify as God. This leads to a profound realization: the question of God's origins challenges us to think beyond everyday experiences and to consider metaphysical realities. It also encourages respectful dialogue between faith and reason. Reflecting on this has deepened my understanding of faith, and I recommend others to explore theological works that delve into divine infinity, eternity, and the nature of existence to build a more comprehensive view. Overall, the question 'Where did God come from?' invites us to move beyond literal assumptions and appreciate the depth of theological inquiry into the infinite, uncreated nature of God.
