หลายคนที่เจอชื่อเล่ม “อาชญรีเยนต์” (หรือไปสะดุดกับคำว่า “รีเยนต์”) มักสงสัยเหมือนกันว่า “รีเยนต์ แปลว่าอะไร?” เราลองสรุปแบบเข้าใจง่ายจากที่ไปไล่อ่าน/ค้นเพิ่มหลังอ่านจบค่ะ คำว่า “รีเยนต์” มาจากคำอังกฤษว่า regent (หรือบางบริบทเขียน/อ่านใกล้กับ “รีเจนท์”) ความหมายหลักๆ คือ “ผู้สำเร็จราชการแทนพระองค์” หรือ “ผู้ปกครองแทน” ในช่วงที่กษัตริย์/ผู้ปกครองตัวจริงยังไม่สามารถทำหน้าที่ได้ เช่น ยังทรงพระเยาว์ เจ็บป่วย หรือไม่อยู่ในประเทศ พอเอาคำนี้มาอยู่กับคำว่า “อาชญ-” ที่ให้ความหมายไปทางอาชญากรรม ก็จะได้ฟีลลิ่งแนว “อาชญากรรม + อำนาจ/ผู้มีอำนาจเบื้องหลัง” ซึ่งเข้ากับธีมปริศนาและแรงจูงใจในเรื่องมากๆ (อ่านแล้วจะยิ่งเก็ตว่าทำไมชื่อถึงชวนระแวง) อีกคำที่คนค้นบ่อยคือ “สวัสดิกะย้อนเกล็ด” จากที่อ่านในเล่ม บรรยากาศของ “คฤหาสน์สวัสดิกะย้อนเกล็ด” คือเป็นจุดศูนย์กลางของเกมไขปริศนาหาสมบัติที่โยงกับอดีต/ประวัติศาสตร์ และยังเป็นฉากที่ทำให้คดี “ห้องปิดตาย” ดูเป็นไปได้แบบมีรายละเอียดรองรับ ไม่ใช่แค่ปิดห้องแล้วบอกว่าปิดตายเฉยๆ ชอบที่ผู้เขียนใส่ผังอาคาร/โครงสร้างคฤหาสน์ให้เราเห็นภาพ (ดูจากรูปผังคฤหาสน์แบบ 3 มิติแล้วอินมาก) มันช่วยให้ตอนคิดตามว่า “คนร้ายทำได้ยังไง” หรือ “ทางหนีทีไล่มีตรงไหนบ้าง” สนุกขึ้นจริง ถ้าใครลังเลว่าจะอ่านดีไหม เราว่าเล่มนี้เหมาะกับคนชอบ 3 อย่างพร้อมกัน: (1) สืบสวนแบบมีเหตุผล (2) ปริศนาหาสมบัติ/เกมภารกิจในคฤหาสน์ และ (3) เกร็ดความรู้หลายสาขาแบบไม่ยัดเยียด โดยเฉพาะพาร์ตประวัติศาสตร์ที่โยงกับยุคสงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง อ่านแล้วอยากไปฟังคลิปสัมภาษณ์/รายการที่ผู้เขียนเล่าประกอบเพื่อให้ภาพในหัวชัดขึ้น ทิปเล็กๆ ก่อนอ่าน: ถ้าคุณเป็นสายชอบเดา ลองจด “เงื่อนไขห้องปิดตาย” กับ “ใครอยู่ตรงไหนเวลาเกิดเหตุ” ไว้คร่าวๆ จะสนุกมาก เพราะเล่มนี้มีทั้งการแบ่งหน้าที่สืบของคู่ฝาแฝด และมีฝาแฝดอีกหลายคู่เข้ามา ทำให้ไทม์ไลน์กับแรงจูงใจซับซ้อนขึ้น แต่ก็เป็นความซับซ้อนที่อ่านเพลินค่ะ
