Back day is the cheat code for curves…
You can’t spot reduce fat but you can build a strong back and completely change your shape. #backworkout
I totally get it! If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and wondered, 'Why is my upper body so big?' especially as a woman, you're not alone. For a long time, I felt like my upper body lacked definition or felt 'bulky,' and I was constantly looking for ways to feel more confident in my clothes. But here's the game-changer I discovered: focusing on a strong back day routine isn't just about strength; it's the ultimate secret weapon for sculpting beautiful curves and creating that coveted hourglass illusion! Many women worry about their upper body appearing larger, sometimes due to genetics, body fat distribution, or even poor posture. While you can't magically spot-reduce fat from one area, you absolutely can change your body shape through targeted strength training. Building your back muscles, particularly your lats (the muscles that give your back its width), can dramatically enhance your waist-to-hip ratio by making your waist appear smaller in comparison. Plus, a strong back instantly improves your posture, making you stand taller and leaner. My journey to feeling more confident started when I embraced back day. It's not just about lifting heavy; it's about consistent effort and proper form. If BACK FAT IS YOUR STRUGGLE, you really need to SAVE THIS FOR YOUR NEXT BACK DAY because these exercises are transformative. Here are some staples I swear by, inspired by the routines that finally gave me the results I was looking for: Lat Pulldowns (3 sets of 10-12 reps): This is a powerhouse for developing that 'V-taper' shape which makes your waist look smaller. Focus on pulling the bar down towards your upper chest, squeezing your shoulder blades together. I always imagine trying to tuck my elbows into my back pockets. Seated Rows (3 sets of 10-12 reps): Another fantastic exercise for building thickness in your mid-back. Keep your core tight, pull the handle towards your lower abs, and again, really focus on that squeeze between your shoulder blades. I sometimes vary my grip for different muscle activation. Single Arm Rows (Dumbbell or Cable, 3 sets of 8-10 reps per arm): I love these for targeting each side of my back independently, helping to address any imbalances. Keep your back flat and pull the dumbbell or handle up towards your hip. It really helps me feel that deep contraction. Underhand Rows (Barbell or Cable, 3 sets of 10-12 reps): Using an underhand grip (palms facing up) emphasizes the lower lats and biceps more. It’s a great variation to keep your muscles guessing and continuously challenging them. Gorilla Rows (or Bent-Over Dumbbell Rows, 3 sets of 10-12 reps): These are incredible for overall back development and posterior chain strength. Hinge at your hips, keep a slight bend in your knees, and pull the weights up towards your chest, maintaining a flat back. Remember, consistency is key! Don't be afraid to gradually increase the weight as you get stronger (progressive overload). And while nutrition plays a role in overall fat loss, integrating these back workouts will physically sculpt and reshape your body in ways you'll absolutely love. It's about feeling strong, empowered, and loving the curves you build!
I’m in physical therapy for bad rotator cuff (both shoulders have limited mobility and lots of stiffness and pain) she said I can’t workout upper body cuz of my shoulders but I think it would help to strengthen them . Do you have any modifications or tips to loose back fat without lots of strain on my shoulders?
