As a first-time mom, it's common to experience a range of emotions and concerns about who interacts with your child. Common "icks"—those behaviors or attitudes that raise red flags—often stem from a desire to protect your little one from negative influences. Some of these may include a lack of empathy or understanding towards children, poor hygiene practices, or dismissive attitudes towards parenting concerns. In shaping your parenting approach, it's crucial to surround yourself with a supportive network of parents who share similar values. Engaging in online forums, like those on Lemon8, offers an excellent opportunity to connect with other moms who understand these feelings. Through shared experiences, you can find comfort and reassurance, while gaining valuable insights on navigating the beautiful yet challenging journey of motherhood. Remember, setting boundaries is a vital aspect of parenting; it's not just about protecting your child, but also about ensuring your own peace of mind. By recognizing what makes you uncomfortable and communicating those feelings, you can create a nurturing environment for both yourself and your baby. Embrace the learning process, and don't hesitate to reach out for support when you need it.

A ick for me is if I tell my child no.. here come a friend or family member try to tell me otherwise. Ex: I tell my daughter no she can’t have a sleepover here come my sister telling me “let that girl have a sleepover” IN FRONT OF HER! like girl shut up I said NO 🙄
