The more I render over my mistakes the better it'll look, right? 🙂 #illustration #art #manga #anime #drawing
When I’m working on my illustrations, especially in manga and anime styles, I often come to a point where the coloring or details don’t quite meet my expectations. It’s tempting to either start over entirely or rush through to finish, but I’ve found that taking the time to carefully rework over any mistakes actually strengthens the final piece. For example, if the coloring isn’t turning out as I envisioned but I’ve already invested hours, I don’t give up. Instead, I analyze what aspects feel off—is it the choice of colors, shading, or blending? Then, I re-render those areas patiently, sometimes layering additional colors or adjusting contrasts to bring harmony back into the artwork. This process can feel tedious, but the result is almost always worth it because it adds depth and polish. In my experience, embracing mistakes as opportunities rather than setbacks is key. Rather than fearing imperfections, seeing them as natural parts of the artistic journey helps reduce frustration. Also, sharing this approach with fellow artists has revealed it’s a common challenge; many artists hesitate to keep refining because they worry about 'overworking' their piece. Ultimately, the time spent refining details and correcting coloring can elevate your art from good to great, making your manga or anime drawings more captivating and professionally finished. Don’t shy away from revisiting and re-rendering your work—every layer contributes to your growth and the artwork’s quality.
