Subject 6, Day 28: Perform Inventory Checks.
Ever felt like you're just going through the motions, or that some parts of your life could be better but you're not sure where to start? I totally get it! I used to feel that way too, until I decided to perform an inventory on my life and my relationships. It sounds formal, but it's really just a thoughtful way to check in with yourself and see what's truly working and what needs a little TLC. Think of it as a personal check-up. The goal is to identify where you can make small improvements that will make changes that will make your life exponentially better. For me, this often starts with my relationships. Are you not reaching out to a loved one just because you think they don't miss you? Sometimes, those little connections are the ones that need the most attention. Perhaps you've been meaning to call a friend, mend a family tie, or even just show more appreciation to your partner. Taking stock of these can reveal immediate areas for positive action. Beyond relationships, consider other facets that need improvements. How's your mindset? Are you leaning towards #positive thinking, or do negative thoughts often creep in? What about personal growth? Are you learning new things, pursuing hobbies, or challenging yourself to #grow? An honest assessment helps you pinpoint where you might be neglecting yourself or where you could invest more energy to foster a better life. To make this inventory more concrete, I found it helpful to keep a 'personal inventory record book' – not a fancy ledger for physical items, but a simple journal or even a note on my phone. In it, I jot down: Relationship Status: List key people in your life. Next to each, note one small way you could nurture that connection this week (e.g., send a thoughtful text, plan a coffee date, apologize for a past misunderstanding). Mindset Check: What thoughts dominate your day? When do you feel most positive, and what triggers negative feelings? Write down one affirmation or a small action to shift your perspective daily. Personal Growth Goals: What skill do you want to learn? What book do you want to read? What physical activity nourishes you? Track your progress towards these tiny steps. Monitoring these areas diligently, even for just a few minutes each day, has been a game-changer for me. It’s not about perfection, but about consistent, small efforts. By regularly performing this inventory, you gain clarity, prioritize what truly matters, and proactively cultivate the life you want. You’ll be amazed at how these focused improvements add up, leading to a much more fulfilling and positive existence.
