... Read moreWhile the previous highlights captured the essence of a trip to Venice & Lake Garda, there's so much more to uncover for anyone planning their own Italian adventure! From navigating the enchanting canals of Venice to soaking up the sun by Lake Garda, this region of Italy offers an incredible mix of culture, relaxation, and delicious food. Beyond the main attractions, exploring Venice's art scene was a real treat. The European Cultural Centre art display was a fantastic discovery, offering contemporary works in stunning historic settings – a great alternative to the crowds. And speaking of treats, Suso Gelato near Rialto Bridge truly lives up to its hype; their pistachio is heavenly! For something different, the ambiance at The M Venezia was perfect for an evening drink, providing a chic spot away from the bustling squares. Getting from Venice to Lake Garda is surprisingly easy and offers scenic views. A train from Venezia Santa Lucia to Desenzano del Garda-Sirmione or Peschiera del Garda is usually the quickest option. From there, local buses or ferries connect you to the various towns around the lake, making the journey part of the adventure itself. Lake Garda itself is a treasure trove of activities. Beyond the specific spots outlined, simply taking a ferry across the lake offers breathtaking panoramic views. For those wondering about things to do in Lake Garda, consider exploring the charming lakeside towns, each with its unique character. Renting a bike and cycling along the picturesque paths, or even trying some watersports like windsurfing or paddleboarding, are popular choices. The Venetian Riviera (referring to the eastern side of the lake and surrounding Veneto region) is simply stunning. A visit to Malcesine is truly special. Taking the Gondola in Malcesine up Monte Baldo is an absolute must-do for incredible views of the entire lake – it’s an experience not to be missed. For dining, Ristorante La Pace Malcesine comes highly recommended, known for its fresh local fish and charming lakeside setting. If you're looking for accommodation, Hotel Catullo Malcesine is often praised for its great location and classic charm, making it a perfect base for exploring the north of the lake. Down south, Sirmione is a captivating peninsula town. The Aquaria Thermal Spa in Sirmione is an indulgence, especially after a day of exploring – the warm thermal waters with lake views are pure bliss. For those seeking lively spots, Jamaica Sirmione (Lido delle Bionde) is a stunning beach known for its clear waters and relaxed vibe. When planning your trip, keep an eye on the weather in Sirmione as it can influence your outdoor activities; typically, summers are warm and sunny, perfect for lake swimming. And let's not forget the delightful Lemonade in Limone! This town is famous for its lemon groves, and enjoying a refreshing glass of freshly squeezed lemonade by the lake is a simple pleasure that perfectly captures the essence of the region.
