Quilt as you go placemats.

2024/9/22 Edited to

... Read moreQuilt-as-you-go is a fantastic method for both beginners and seasoned crafters looking to streamline their quilting projects. This technique allows you to assemble the quilt top and backing simultaneously during the quilting process, which can save time and reduce labor. It’s particularly ideal for small projects like placemats, table runners, and cushions, where you can easily practice your skills without the commitment of a larger quilt. When tackling quilt-as-you-go, start by selecting a pattern that speaks to you; there are countless designs available that can inspire your creativity. Choose fabrics that complement each other and fit your theme, whether it's rustic, modern, or colorful. Using consistent padding and backing materials is crucial for a professional finish. Don’t forget to experiment with stitching patterns – they can add texture and personality to your placemats. In addition to being a fun project, handcrafted placemats can make wonderful gifts or stylish statements when entertaining guests. They enhance your dining experience and are easy to customize to suit different occasions and seasons. Remember, practice makes perfect, so don’t be discouraged by initial challenges. Enjoy the process of creating beautiful, personalized items that add warmth and character to your home!

I was able to trim all my quilted blocks today, I love that pile of quilted trimmed blocks when I get that far. My “design walls” are the beds so I arranged the blocks how I want to sew them together and got started with the sashings. The last two photos are sewing the first vertical sashing.

I’d like your opinion on what color sashing to use for this baby quilt, the bright orange or the lime green? I like both! This is a quilt as you go project so the sashings will go in between each block and around the outside to add the dark blue border. Currently the blocks measure 24” x 36”,
