Dinners I made this week
Went ahead and was the private chef for 3 days this week. I took pictures of what I made (mostly). Day 1 herby couscous with rosemary dijon chicken and roast maple glaze carrots with pan a cotta and a Caesar salad. Day 2: fillet mignon crostini with a Gorgonzola cream sauce (not pictured was a charcuterie board). Salmon with mashed potatoes and roast asparagus and rainbow carrots, with chocolate mousse. (Not pictured a wedge salad with candied pecans and homemade ranch and Gorgonzola cheese crumbles. Day 3 (not pictured: marinated tomato bruschetta with homemade focaccia) fillet mignon with cauliflower mash, sautéed mushrooms and a bernaise sauce and banana bars. I also made them to go things like homemade bagels, fruit salad, blueberry muffins, chicken and steak skewers, and a chicken broccoli rice casserole but I forgot to take pictures. Which is a bummer because they were beautiful. It’s so fun to be able to do this but sooooo much work. In the end I do@love the expirience and the exposure. #privatechef #culinary #cooking #baking #food
Being a private chef for a few days is both an exhilarating and intensive experience. It requires careful planning, precision, and creativity to deliver meals that are both beautiful and delicious. For example, preparing dishes like herby couscous with rosemary Dijon chicken involves balancing aromatic flavors while ensuring the protein is cooked to perfection. Roasting maple-glazed carrots adds a sweet edge that complements the savory chicken. On another day, serving filet mignon with a rich Gorgonzola cream sauce requires mastering the art of cooking the steak to the ideal doneness and creating a sauce that enhances but doesn't overpower the meat’s natural flavors. Pairing this with crostini adds a delightful crunch that brings texture variety to the plate. Salmon with mashed potatoes and roasted rainbow carrots not only appeals to the eye with colorful presentation but also balances nutrition and taste. Roasting vegetables like asparagus and carrots brings out their natural sweetness, making the dish vibrant and satisfying. Desserts such as panna cotta, chocolate mousse, and banana bars provide a sweet finish to the meals, often crafted with attention to texture contrasts and flavor balance. Beyond the plated dinners, making to-go items like homemade bagels, fruit salad, blueberry muffins, and hearty casseroles allows a diverse menu that caters to different tastes and moments. These kinds of home-cooked meals highlight the passion behind culinary arts and the joy of sharing thoughtfully prepared food. For anyone considering working as a private chef or simply looking to elevate their home cooking, it’s important to invest time in understanding flavor profiles, experimenting with sauces like béarnaise or Gorgonzola cream, and balancing meals with fresh salads or vibrant sides. While the work can be demanding, the rewarding experience of creating memorable meals and enjoying the exposure that comes with it makes the effort worthwhile.
