Baked ziti is a classic Italian-American comfort food that combines pasta, rich tomato sauce, and gooey cheeses into a hearty casserole perfect for chilly evenings. This recipe emphasizes the use of Tillamook mozzarella, known for its creamy texture and full flavor, which enhances the dish's melty cheese appeal. When preparing baked ziti, choosing the right pasta is important—ziti tubes hold sauce well, making every bite flavorful. To elevate the flavor, the recipe incorporates a blend of seasoned ground beef sautéed with onions, adding depth and savoriness. The creamy ricotta mixture, combined with sour cream and egg, ensures a luscious texture and helps bind the casserole together. Parmesan cheese contributes a nutty, salty finish to balance the richness. For seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, and Vinny's Italian seasoning add aromatic layers that complement the robust sauce. Baking the layered dish at 385°F for 45 minutes allows the flavors to meld, and a resting period afterward ensures it sets perfectly for slicing. This recipe not only makes for a crowd-pleasing Sunday dinner but also serves as a comforting weeknight meal that's kid-friendly and easy to prepare in advance. Incorporating fresh Italian parsley at the end adds a bright, herbaceous note and visually enhances the dish. The use of three jars of pasta sauce makes the baked ziti saucy and satisfying, ideal for serving leftovers. This meal embodies the fall food mood, providing warmth and nostalgia—perfect for family memories and cozy nights in. For best results, use high-quality ingredients like Tillamook whole milk mozzarella farmstyle shreds, known for their excellent melting qualities and rich flavor. Whether you're hosting a dinner or looking for a simple yet indulgent meal, this baked ziti recipe scores high on taste, texture, and comfort.
