Why I hate my locs…

1 year & 5 months in, I am loving my hair but this loc journey was a love/hate process. I started on heat damaged hair and I had no faith in my locking but I was so intrigued & in love with locs I started anyway. In the first few months my hair was matted and seemed slow to progress which made me feel defeated & I began to dislike my hair. However, I kept going strong and blocked out the negativity & here I am 1 year & 5 months later!! So for those just starting, KEEP GOING it’s worth it. #locjourney #blackgirl #blackgirllifestyle #embracevulnerability #unfiltered

... Read moreThe journey of maintaining locs can be both fulfilling and challenging. Many find themselves in situations where they question their decision to start locs, especially in the first few months. It's important to understand that the initial phase is often marked by matting and uneven growth. This is typical, particularly for those starting with heat-damaged hair, as the hair adjusts to the locking process. Patience and self-love become crucial during this time. Engaging with communities online can also provide support and reassurance. The authentic experiences shared by others can validate your feelings and help you stay motivated. Whether it's through social media hashtags like #locjourney or groups dedicated to natural hair care, surrounding yourself with uplifting narratives can help. Realizing that many others have faced similar struggles can transform your perception and help you appreciate the beauty of your unique hair journey. Over time, you'll likely notice improvements, leading to a deeper connection with your locs and a sense of accomplishment that is worth celebrating.
