goin to Houston!
Travel days can be a whirlwind of excitement and challenges, and on my recent trip to Houston, I made sure to prepare in a way that kept me energized and ready for whatever came my way. Starting early at 6:30 AM, I focused on packing smartly, emphasizing essentials like water and electrolytes to stay hydrated, which is often overlooked but crucial when flying. I love having simple, refreshing snacks handy during flights. This time, I brought along Rockit apples, which are convenient and super tasty. Apples not only satisfy my hunger but also help me avoid the usual airplane snack traps that can be high in sugar or salt. Pairing the apples with a good cinnamon roll and coffee gave me a great start to the day. Delays are part of traveling, and when my flight to Houston was postponed by two hours, I made the most of it by checking into my hotel earlier than planned and scouting local food offerings. Houston’s diverse culinary scene did not disappoint. I had the best fish burrito, fresh and flavorful, followed by a Brazilian steak dinner at Avenida during the rehearsal night, which was a perfect, hearty meal to end the day. Using public transit like the Blue Line helped me navigate the city with ease, and having Global Entry approved recently made airport procedures smoother than ever. Managing travel logistics alongside enjoying good food and maintaining hydration is key to making travel days successful and enjoyable. For anyone planning a trip like mine, I recommend packing water and snacks that are both nourishing and easy to carry. Also, taking some time to explore local food spots can turn an ordinary travel day into a memorable culinary adventure. Houston, with its vibrant food culture and accessible transit, proved to be a great destination for this.
