Late 20s & Still Building My Tribe ✨👯
Hey ladies, I'm having a moment of real talk, and I know many of you might relate. Lately, I've been doing a lot of thinking about relationships and friendships, especially since moving to a new country. There's this image I had in my head of what my social circle would look like by my late twenties a close knit group, shared experiences, easy connections. And while I'm incredibly grateful for the journey that brought me here, the reality of building that "tribe" from scratch feels a lot more complex than I anticipated.
I've put myself out there, tried to connect, and opened myself up to new people. But it's strange how often it feels like we're on different wavelengths. Some connections fizzle out quickly because the expectations don't align it's tough when someone wants to hang out every night, and I'm explaining my work schedule, or that my late night clubbing days are mostly behind me. It makes me wonder: how do you truly find your people when you're older, with different priorities, and in a completely new environment? How do you know when you've finally found that genuine connection that just fits?
The truth is, I'm working on building a life here, chasing my dreams, and trying to "level up" in so many ways. But sometimes, despite the effort, there's still this quiet ache for deeper, more effortless connections. I know I'm not alone in this. So many of us, especially as we step into our late twenties and our lives evolve, carry this mix of excitement for new beginnings and a longing for that sense of belonging. We want to be open, to find our chosen family, but we also wonder: when does it just get to feel natural and easy?
My takeaways:
•Building a social circle from scratch, especially in a new country, is a marathon, not a sprint.
•It's okay if not every connection is the one. Learning what you don't want in a friendship is just as valuable.
•You are allowed to crave deep connections and still be protective of your time and energy.
•Being in a new place and navigating different life stages doesn't make you unworthy of finding your tribe.
For the girls out there:
Do you ever feel this way too? Like you're proud of how much you've grown and adapted, but still navigating the tricky waters of finding your people? How are you making friends when you're older, maybe in a new city or country, and your social scene isn't what it used to be? Let's talk about it in the comments I'd love to hear how you're navigating this season and making those genuine connections!
