One Month Abroad With No Plan Update
One month of living abroad in the UK 🇬🇧 and so far this experience has taught me: you didn’t come this far just to stay the same.
Starting over in a new country gives you a rare kind of fresh start. New people, new routines, new perspectives. But what matters most is not carrying the same habits, fears, or versions of yourself into a place that was meant to help you grow.
My biggest lesson after moving abroad has been even if you don’t have every detail figured out, commit to not going backwards. Don’t repeat the same cycles. Don’t shrink yourself to fit old comfort zones. Let this chapter be the one where you finally become the person you’ve always known you were inside.
For me, that’s looked like choosing authenticity in every area of my life. Only doing what feels true to me. Trusting my own pace. Letting myself grow naturally. And seeing what opportunities come when I stop performing and just fully become myself.
A month in, and I can already say: moving abroad has changed me in the best ways💕

Living abroad with no solid plan can feel daunting, but it opens a unique opportunity to explore your identity and growth in ways that a routine life might not offer. From my experience, the biggest challenge is adapting to an entirely new environment while staying true to yourself. It’s easy to feel lost or question your identity amidst cultural shifts and unfamiliar surroundings, but leaning into your core values acts as a compass. For example, creating a new daily routine that suits your current lifestyle rather than forcing old habits from your previous home helps you find balance. I’ve found that adjusting wake-up times and exploring local customs allows me to feel more grounded. It also helps to anchor yourself with something meaningful—whether faith, hobbies, or connecting with a new community—to maintain mental and emotional stability. Job uncertainty is another consideration. If you’re self-employed or in a service business, having a rough idea of your work goals is crucial even if the details are fuzzy. Use this transition period to pursue passions or internal aspirations you might have sidelined before. This approach not only fosters authenticity but often leads to unexpected opportunities. Most importantly, don’t rush the transformation. Growth unfolds naturally when you avoid shrinking to fit old comfort zones or repeating former cycles. Embrace the freedom to evolve and observe how simply being your genuine self can change your life abroad in marvelous ways.
