These protein bars save me so much $$$
No because why are protein bars SO expensive lately?? 😭
I started making my own at home, aaand now I’m hooked! They’re so satisfying, way more budget-friendly, and honestly something I actually look forward to eating every day 🥰
Here’s the full recipe👇🏻
1 cup protein powder (most flavors will work great, I used vanilla)
1/4 cup oats
1/4 cup raw honey
1/2 cup nut butter of your choice
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
Mix the first four ingredients together in a large bowl. Then fold in the shredded coconut and mix until completely blended. The mixture should be nice and thick, however I did add a splash of milk for texture!
Pour the mix into a baking pan/dish then press down to flatten out the mix. Drizzle some melted dark chocolate across the top and sprinkle some sea salt. Refrigerate for about 2-3 hours.
Cut into individual bars and enjoy!! 🥜🍫
Making your own protein bars at home can be a real game-changer, not just for your budget but also for your nutrition and taste preferences. What I love most about the recipe shared here is how flexible it is — you can easily swap ingredients like different protein powder flavors, nut butters, or even add-ins like seeds and dried fruits to keep things interesting. A tip I picked up is to really pay attention to the texture of your mixture. If it feels too dry or crumbly, adding a splash of milk or even a little water helps bind everything together without making it too sticky. Another bonus of homemade bars is controlling the sweetness; adjusting the amount of raw honey or choosing a dark chocolate drizzle lets you customize the sugar content to your liking. One of the things people sometimes overlook when making protein bars is adding toppings like sea salt or chocolate drizzle. The contrast of flavors really elevates the taste and makes the bars feel like a treat rather than a health chore. I found that refrigerating them for at least 3 hours helps them firm up perfectly, making them easier to cut and transport for a post-workout snack or midday energy boost. Lastly, homemade protein bars are excellent because you know exactly what’s going into them—no hidden preservatives or extra sugars common in commercial bars. Plus, this DIY approach can be a fun kitchen project, especially if you’re looking to develop healthier eating habits while saving money.

Thank you. Going to try these. My son loves the Gatorade protein bars. They are so expensive.
