Journals For Life Kit 🤎

I picked up this Journals For Life junk journal kit at Create That Studio while I was there scrapbooking on my birthday.

I honestly didn’t need it and didn’t exactly know what I was going to use it for because I just wanted the records and retro tv card stock cut outs. Then I didn’t to actually use it as a junk journal the way it was intended.

I took pictures of everything the kit comes with! You can find the items online at www.journalsforlife.com/shop (this is NOT an ad, I am NOT sponsored).

I, also, made a spread using just the kit as inspiration for anyone that needs it 🤎

... Read moreAfter getting my hands on that amazing Journals For Life kit, it got me thinking more about what makes junk journaling so special. For me, it’s all about embracing imperfections and telling a story, whether it’s a daily entry, a themed spread, or just a collection of pretty things. The beauty lies in its unpolished authenticity, making each journal truly unique. If you’re new to it, or even if you’ve been doing it for a while but sometimes feel stuck, these kits are a fantastic starting point. I loved how this particular kit came with so many curated pieces, like those adorable retro TV die-cuts and the empowering phrase stickers like "I am Extraordinary" or "Think like a QUEEN." It really takes away the pressure of having to collect everything from scratch, which can be overwhelming when you’re just beginning or looking for a fresh burst of inspiration. One of my favorite ways to approach a new kit is to simply lay everything out. Don't worry about where things will go right away. Just admire the patterned papers – like the cute cherry pattern ones in this kit – and the diverse range of embellishments. I often find myself picking a central theme or even just a color palette to guide my first few pages. For instance, with all the empowering phrases included, I might dedicate a spread to self-love or personal growth, using stickers like "love yourself girl" and "Have trust in YOURSELF" to really drive the message home. It makes the journaling process more intentional and meaningful. Don't be afraid to cut things up and experiment! Those bigger pieces, like the dress cutouts or even parts of the Guest Check stamp, can be used as layering elements or focal points. I find that layering different textures and patterns adds so much depth and visual interest to a page. You can even snip out individual words from larger phrases or mix and match different sticker sets from other collections you might have. Remember, it’s your journal, so there are absolutely no rules! The more you play, the more you discover what you love. Sometimes, I struggle with where to begin, especially when I have so many beautiful things in front of me. My go-to strategy is to start with a photo, a cherished memory, or a piece of ephemera I want to highlight. Then, I build around it, letting the main element dictate the flow and design. For the spread I made with this kit, I chose to focus on a few key stickers and then built my background with the coordinating papers and smaller embellishments. The true charm of junk journaling is that it doesn't have to be perfect; the little bits of glue showing or slightly crooked stickers just add to its unique character. Another idea is to create themed mini-journals within your larger one. Maybe one section is all about your favorite books, another for daily reflections (using phrases like "one day at a time babe"), and a third for future dreams and aspirations. This kit's versatile contents, including those fun retro cameras and hearts, make it easy to adapt to any theme you can imagine. The most important thing is to just start. Even if it's just gluing down one sticker and writing a single sentence, that's progress. Happy journaling!
