The new Alani!!
My Walmart had a whole shelf of the new Alani…
I was slightly disappointed, it reminds me of a flat Dr. Pepper. Rated: 3/10
Okay, so I know I rated the new Alani Cherry Bomb a pretty low 3/10 in my initial post, and honestly, after thinking about it more, my feelings haven't really changed. When I first spotted that vibrant, dark red can with its playful designs at Walmart, I was genuinely excited. Alani usually has such a buzz, and I'm always down to try their latest creations, especially knowing it's often 0g sugar. But this one... it was just a miss for me. You know how sometimes you try a new drink, and it just hits you wrong? That's exactly how the Cherry Bomb felt. The closest thing I can compare it to is a flat Dr. Pepper, but not in a nostalgic, good way. It had that slightly syrupy, artificial cherry flavor, but without any of the crispness or fizz you'd expect from an energy drink. It just fell flat, literally. I was hoping for something bright and bold, a real 'cherry bomb' of flavor, but it was more like a dud. Usually, Alani delivers on flavor, even with 0g sugar. I’ve loved many of their other flavors, finding them refreshing and effective without that typical artificial aftertaste. So, this particular "new Alani" really surprised me. It made me wonder what went wrong in the formulation. Was it just my palate that day, or is this a common experience? I’ve seen some people rave about it, which makes me think taste is truly subjective, but for me, it just wasn't the Alani standard I've come to expect. When you're searching for terms like "nasty energy drink," you're probably looking for honest reviews like mine – takes on drinks that just don't hit the mark. For me, a 'nasty' energy drink isn't necessarily about being overly sweet or too strong; it's about a fundamental disconnect between the promise and the taste. It's that artificial, chemical-like flavor, or the lack of effervescence, or just a general unpleasantness that leaves you wishing you'd picked something else. The Cherry Bomb, for me, leaned into that 'unpleasant' category because it lacked the vibrancy I associate with a good energy drink. If you're like me and were let down by this one, don't despair! There are so many great Alani flavors out there. My personal favorites still include Hawaiian Shaved Ice or Cosmic Stardust – they always deliver a delicious, refreshing boost. Or, if you’re exploring other brands, look for drinks that boast natural flavors or have a strong community backing for their taste. Always check reviews before committing to a whole case, especially if you're sensitive to certain artificial sweeteners. It’s all about finding what works for your taste buds! Don't let one disappointing experience with a "new Alani" flavor turn you off the whole brand. What are your go-to energy drinks? Have you tried the Cherry Bomb yet? Let me know your thoughts!
