Another Non-scale Victory!

Girls, let's talk about something incredibly important on this journey: Non-Scale Victories (NSVs)! My post today was all about the amazing feeling of my clothes fitting looser, but honestly, NSVs are so much more than just that. They're the little (and big!) wins that keep us going when the scale isn't moving, reminding us that progress isn't always measured in pounds. For so long, I was obsessed with the number on the scale. Every morning, it dictated my mood for the day. But then I realized, that number is just one piece of the puzzle. What about how I *feel*? How my body *functions*? That's where NSVs come in! They are the real indicators of health, strength, and confidence that often get overlooked. So, what exactly counts as a non-scale victory? Well, it could be anything from the example in my post – like your favorite jeans or a comfy sweatshirt and leggings fitting beautifully, giving you that 'loose clothes, big smiles' feeling! But it extends way beyond just clothing. Here are some of my favorite types of NSVs that I’ve learned to celebrate: Increased Energy & Stamina: Remember feeling tired all the time? Now, maybe you can walk further, climb stairs without getting winded, or even crush a longer gym workout without feeling completely drained. For me, going to the gym used to feel like a chore, but now I genuinely enjoy it and feel stronger with every session. Improved Sleep Quality: Waking up feeling refreshed? That’s a huge win! Better sleep often comes hand-in-hand with a healthier lifestyle. Mental Clarity & Mood Boost: Notice you're feeling less anxious, more focused, or just generally happier? Weight loss and a healthier routine can do wonders for your mental well-being. Physical Milestones: Maybe you can now tie your shoes without struggling, cross your legs comfortably, or pick up your kids/pets with more ease. These everyday movements that used to be difficult suddenly become effortless. Strength Gains: Lifting heavier weights, holding a plank longer, or doing more reps at the gym. These show your body is getting stronger and more capable. Health Markers: Your doctor tells you your blood pressure is better, or your blood sugar levels are improving. These are critical signs of internal health changes that the scale can't show. Confidence & Self-Esteem: This is a big one! Feeling good about how you look in your clothes, or even just feeling more comfortable in your own skin. It's so important to actively look for and acknowledge these victories. Keep a journal, snap progress photos (even if it's just of your clothes), or share them with a friend. Celebrating NSVs shifts your focus from a number to genuine, sustainable progress. It builds resilience and reminds you of how far you've truly come, even when the scale is being stubborn.
