bows on uggs 🎀👼🏻❄️
hiiii guyyysss!!! Who remembers the Bailey bow uggs?? Well I did a little diy on my uggs and I think they turned out so cute! 🫶🏻
details:
slide one - I bought some basic ribbon from hobby lobby! It was 2.99 for a roll + they had so many colors to choose from!
slide two - next I looped them through the back
slide three - then I tied them in a bow! It took me a few min to get the perfect bow but I’m obsessed with how they turned out 👼🏻
slide four - these are the platform uggs but you can try this on regular short uggs! 🤍🧸
After seeing how adorable my platform Uggs turned out with those DIY white bows, I've become a bit obsessed with customizing my boots! If you're thinking about adding bows to your Uggs, whether they're the classic short style or the trendy platforms, here are a few extra tips and tricks I've picked up to make sure your bows look perfect and last. It’s such a simple way to refresh an old pair or make a new pair uniquely yours, truly a game-changer for boot lovers like me! First off, choosing the right ribbon makes a huge difference. I used a simple satin ribbon for my brown Uggs, which gave a classic, elegant look. But you could explore so many options! Velvet ribbons add a luxurious touch, especially for colder weather, perfect for a cozy winter aesthetic. Grosgrain ribbon offers a more structured, preppy vibe, and they hold their shape really well, which is great if you want a perpetually crisp bow. Don't be afraid to play with colors beyond just white! Imagine festive red bows for the holidays, soft pastels for a spring look, or even patterned ribbons to add a unique flair. When shopping, places like Hobby Lobby (where I got mine!), Michaels, or even online craft stores have an incredible selection. Just make sure the ribbon is sturdy enough to withstand being tied and worn. I’d recommend a width of at least half an inch to make a noticeable bow that doesn't get lost on the boot. When it comes to securing your bows, the original method of looping through the back is fantastic for Uggs with those existing loops. This keeps the bow very secure and allows for easy removal if you ever want to change them. However, if your Uggs don't have loops or you want to add bows in a different spot, you have options. Some people use a strong fabric glue or even a few discreet stitches to attach decorative bows. If you go the glue route, make sure it's flexible and waterproof once dry, and test it on an inconspicuous area first. You definitely don't want to damage your cozy boots! For a semi-permanent solution, you can also use small, strong safety pins on the inside of the boot to hold the bow's knot in place, making it easy to remove for cleaning or when you want a different look. Caring for your Uggs with bows is important to keep them looking fresh. If your bows get dirty, I usually spot-clean them gently with a damp cloth and mild soap. If they’re detachable, even better – you can wash the ribbons separately according to their material. To prevent them from getting squished or misshapen in storage, I like to stuff my boots with tissue paper and gently arrange the bows. This helps maintain their shape and keeps them ready for your next outing. Finally, let's talk styling! Uggs with bows add such a charming, feminine touch to any outfit. I love pairing my brown platform Uggs with leggings and an oversized sweater for a casual-chic look that's perfect for a coffee run or a relaxed day out. They also look great with skinny jeans and a cozy knit top, especially if you're going for a more put-together but still comfortable vibe. For a slightly dressier appeal, try them with a knit dress and tights – the bows can add that unexpected, sweet detail. The white bows I added really pop against the brown, making them a delightful focal point and a conversation starter. It's amazing how such a small DIY detail can elevate your entire winter wardrobe and make you feel extra stylish and unique. This little project not only saved me money compared to buying a new pair of Uggs with bows but also gave me a unique, personalized item I truly love. Give it a try, you might just fall in love with your "new" Uggs!
