“Don’t Sleep With Your Baby”
How many moms let their baby sleep w’ them in the bed? I do sometimes 🙋🏽♀️. My daughter just recently turned one & she has been sleeping w’ me in my bed from time to time since she was 9 months.
At 1st I tried not to do it very often because I’ve heard b4 “don’t let your baby keep sleeping w’ you in your bed because they will not want to sleep in their own bed as they get older” LETS BE REAL that is not always the case. My daughter can sleep in her bed all night most nights & some nights she likes to sleep w’ me. My daughter loves to cuddle. And so do I 😊
I see this as a comfort thing for babies/kids that just need a mother love or even just need cuddles to help them sleep on those nights they can’t. And I don’t see nothing wrong w’ that.
Co-sleeping is a common practice among parents, often driven by the need for closeness and reassurance during the early stages of a child's life. Research indicates that when babies sleep with their parents, they may experience better sleep patterns due to the warmth and comfort provided by their mother. It's essential to consider the benefits of co-sleeping, such as fostering a secure attachment and reducing anxiety in young children. Experts suggest that as long as safety guidelines are followed—like ensuring a firm mattress and keeping blankets away from the baby—co-sleeping can be a beneficial choice for many families. Additionally, it can help with breastfeeding, making nighttime feedings more convenient. However, parents should also be aware of the potential challenges. Transitioning to independent sleep may take longer for children who frequently share a bed with their parents. It's vital to establish a bedtime routine that encourages self-soothing and independence if a parent wishes for their child to sleep alone eventually. Finding the right balance between co-sleeping and independent sleep is key.
