True abandoned history of America
When you think of abandoned places, you might think of abandoned shopping malls, abandoned hospitals, abandoned factories.. but not a lot of people think about abandoned mines. There are thousands of mines that fill the western desert and they are a huge part of our American history.
I live in Nevada. Most of this state is barren desert wasteland.. at least that is what you might think. This “wasteland” was actually full of opportunity during the mineral rush of the late 1800s- there are thousands of these mines across the western US, and many of these sites turned into bustling mining towns.
Today, most of these towns are returning back to nature. But the dry arid desert often keeps these places extremely well preserved. Nevada is full of abandoned history, and it keeps my thinking ‘what else might be out there.’
These sites won’t last forever, but I will continue to document these sites in hopes that we can at least get a glimpse as to what life might have been like back in these times. To do this, I started taking my ultra high resolution camera into these mines to capture what things look like now.
