🩺✨Nurses/Pre-Med girlies tap in✨🩺

Nursing school is my first pit stop!🚦The goal is to become an RN while I work my way through pre-med schooling. It’s the first step in the journey, but every pit stop still moves me closer to the finish line. I also just had my in-person interview and tour of the unit i’ll be working in at OU Med! Thank you Jesus for these opportunities, knowing my calling has been the biggest blessing I can ask for.🩺✨

... Read moreEmbarking on a nursing career while simultaneously pursuing pre-med studies is a challenging yet rewarding journey. Many aspiring healthcare professionals choose nursing school as an initial step because it offers hands-on clinical experience and a solid foundation in patient care. This dual approach allows students to become Registered Nurses (RNs) faster and acquire practical skills that will be invaluable for medical school. One important aspect highlighted in students’ experiences is familiarity with hospital protocols, such as emergency codes — R.A.C.E. for fire safety or security alerts like active shooter drills. These codes are critical knowledge areas for nurses working in units like OU Medical, where clinical rotations and interviews deepen understanding of hospital operations. Additionally, managing demanding 12-hour shifts, hydrating properly, and wearing scrubs from trusted brands like FIGS help nursing students maintain stamina and professionalism throughout long work hours. Clocking in early, for example at 6:00 am, reflects dedication and readiness to save lives alongside colleagues. For students balancing nursing and pre-med, each clinical day and interview is more than just a requirement; it is an opportunity to grow, learn, and confirm one’s calling in healthcare. The gratitude expressed for these opportunities resonates deeply in nursing communities and reminds learners that every pit stop—from initial nursing school to medical school acceptance—progresses them toward their ultimate goal of becoming physicians. Sharing these authentic experiences, including challenges and blessings, helps inspire and support others who are on similar paths. Supporting each other through forums like #nurselife and #nursingschool fosters a sense of community among future nurses and doctors. These collective stories enrich the journey, making each milestone meaningful beyond textbooks and exams.

Yeah that’s what I did pretty much. Started as a Lpn then got my RN. Decided I absolutely hated it & immediately went back to school the next year to get my DNP & I’ve been working as a RN while going to school & I graduate next semester. It’s going to feel so weird not being in school anymore lol 😅
