Prepping new loc extensions for sleep
These curly, braid-in, loc extensions are loose when you first put them in. With proper care, they lock on their own and stay in perfect little coils. This is the extent of what I do to get them to that state. I separate them once daily (at most…sometimes I skip a day or two) and I sleep in my silky bonnet. After a week or two…I skip the bonnet. I just get tired of wearing it and the hair is pretty much perfect by then anyway! This really is all I do. No secrets…no products…no fancy silks or braids or clips or rubberbands. Minimal care. Less is more. So easy. And when I wake up—I take the bonnet off, shake out my hair out and am ready to go. Easiest. Hair. To care for your braid-in curly loc extensions effectively, it’s essential to establish a nightly routine that enhances the longevity and appearance of your locs. Start by gently separating each loc to prevent tangling, ensuring they maintain their shape without added pressure. Using a silky bonnet is crucial, as it minimizes friction while you sleep, preserving the natural curl pattern and preventing frizz. Alternatively, a silky pillowcase can serve the same purpose if bonnets aren't your style. Maintain this routine to keep your loc extensions looking vibrant and well-maintained over time. Additionally, consider incorporating a light oil or serum into your regimen to nourish the scalp without weighing down the locs. Look for products that are lightweight and specifically designed for locs to avoid buildup. Staying consistent with your nightly care can significantly improve the resilience of your loc extensions. Embrace the simplicity of this hair care routine, as less is often more. With just these few easy steps, you can wake up every day with beautiful, bouncy locs ready to go!
