Those handfuls of nuts add up FAST

Nuts, while nutritious and keto-friendly, pack a surprising amount of calories in just a small handful. From personal experience and coaching many keto beginners, I’ve seen that these frequent, unnoticed nut snacks quickly add up and can push you into a calorie surplus. Tracking every single bite—even snacks—was a game changer for me and those I’ve coached. Instead of casually grabbing a handful here and there, measuring your portions with a kitchen scale or using a food tracking app makes the calorie count clear. A small handful of almonds or walnuts can easily contain 150-200 calories. Multiply that by multiple snacks a day, and you’re easily adding 400+ calories without realizing it. Also, it helps to plan your snacks intentionally. Consider whole foods like cheese sticks, boiled eggs, or raw veggies paired with a moderate amount of nuts counted into your daily macros. By being mindful and tracking, you keep your calorie intake aligned with your keto goals. Lastly, remember that maintaining nutritional ketosis does not override the importance of calories in versus calories out. Keto optimizes fat burning, but eating more calories than you burn will still prevent weight loss. Tracking nuts and other calorie-dense snacks gives you control, ensuring your hard work translates into actual progress.
