... Read moreHey Lemon8 fam! So, I just kicked off my journey as a freshman at Lincoln University, and let me tell you, it's been an incredible whirlwind already! I know a lot of you might be curious about what makes LU so special, especially if you're thinking of applying or just started like me. Based on my first few weeks and what I’ve learned, I wanted to share some cool facts and insights about this amazing place.
First off, did you know Lincoln University holds a super important place in history? It's one of the nation's oldest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), founded way back in 1854! Learning about its legacy and the incredible alumni who walked these same grounds – like Langston Hughes and Thurgood Marshall – really gives you a sense of pride. It's not just a university; it's a living piece of history.
Campus life here is vibrant, to say the least! There's always something happening, from student organization meetings to impromptu hangouts by the quad. One thing I've noticed is the strong sense of community. Everyone is so welcoming, and it really feels like a family. It’s easy to make friends, and there are tons of clubs to join, whether you're into sports, arts, or academic societies. I'm actually looking into some of the cultural clubs myself!
Academically, LU offers a wide range of programs. I’m still figuring out my major, but I’ve been impressed by the dedication of the professors and the resources available. They really focus on setting you up for success. I've heard great things about their business and liberal arts programs, and the small class sizes mean you get more personalized attention, which is a huge plus for me.
And speaking of campus spirit, our mascot is the Mighty Lions! Everywhere you look, you'll see touches of our vibrant orange and blue. I even saw this awesome mural with a lion on campus that just screams LU pride. It's really cool to feel that collective energy, especially during sports events. Go Lions!
For any prospective students or even fellow freshmen, here are a few quick tips and fun facts I’ve gathered:
Location Perks: We’re located in Pennsylvania, offering a beautiful, somewhat rural setting, but we’re also close enough to Philadelphia and Wilmington for weekend trips and internships. Best of both worlds!
Housing: Dorm life is definitely an experience! It's a great way to meet people and get integrated into campus culture. Make sure to personalize your space to make it feel like home.
Getting Around: The campus is pretty walkable, which is great for getting to classes and exploring.
Traditions: Keep an eye out for unique Lincoln traditions and events. There's so much history embedded in everything we do here.
Support Services: Don't hesitate to use academic advisors, tutoring centers, and career services. They're here to help you thrive!
It's only the beginning, but I'm super excited for what's to come at Lincoln University. If you're looking for a supportive community, rich history, and a solid education, definitely consider becoming a Lion! What are some of your favorite things about your university, or what do you look for in one?
