Make bible study a habit!
One of my goals for this new year is to get closer to God. Growing up, I had no sense of religion. Now at 28 years old I’m taking it upon myself to build a relationship with The Man Above. I wish I would’ve taken the initiative sooner. I started January 24th have read a chapter in the Bible every day since. I’ve attempted to read from front to back on multiple occasions but always gotten burnt out just trying to get through Genesis. Now I use a Verse of the day from the Bible app & that chooses which book and chapter I’ll read that day. I'm not a professional artist by any means, but I've found that simply doodling or sketching while I read helps me process and remember verses better. For instance, if a verse talks about light, I might draw a simple sun or a lamp in the margins of my journal. If it's about a shepherd, a little sheep drawing helps me visualize it. There are so many inspiring bible art ideas online, from simple hand-lettering to more elaborate watercolor techniques. You don't need fancy supplies; even colored pens can transform your notes into a beautiful visual record of your spiritual journey. Creating a dedicated bible study picture or visual summary of a chapter can also be a wonderful way to consolidate what you've learned. It's a personal way to journal your faith. The key is consistency, just as the title "Make bible study a habit!" emphasizes. It’s not about perfection, but persistence. Find what resonates with you – whether it’s a specific devotional, a guided reading plan, or simply using a 'Verse of the Day' app like I do. Setting aside a specific time each day, even just 10-15 minutes, can make a huge difference. Treat it like a special appointment with God. Before you know it, you'll not only have a deeper understanding of God's word and incredible bible stories, but you'll also have cultivated a cherished daily habit that nourishes your soul.
