Lashes
Hey lash lovers! Let's dive deep into something that can truly transform your DIY lash game: lash cluster curl types. When I first started with #clusterlashes, I was so overwhelmed by all the letters – C, D, L, J... what did they all mean? But trust me, understanding 'the cur' of each lash can make all the difference in achieving that gorgeous, natural, or dramatic look you're going for. So, what are the main curl types you'll encounter, and how do you pick the right one for your eyes and desired style? Let me break down my personal experience and tips! Understanding the Curl Ladder: J-Curl: This is the most natural curl, offering just a slight lift, almost like your natural lashes. It's perfect if you want a subtle enhancement or to fill in sparse areas without looking like you're wearing extensions. I sometimes use these on my inner corners for a seamless blend. B-Curl: A step up from J, the B-curl offers a bit more lift and curl, giving a slightly more open-eyed effect while still looking very natural. It's a great everyday option for a soft, pretty look. C-Curl: Ah, the classic! C-curl is by far the most popular and versatile. It provides a beautiful, noticeable curl that opens up the eyes and suits most eye shapes. This is my go-to for the majority of my lash maps because it gives that lovely, lifted effect without being overly dramatic. D-Curl (or CC-Curl): If you're after a more dramatic, doll-eye effect, the D-curl is your best friend. It has an even stronger curl than the C, creating a glamorous, eye-catching look. I love using D-curls on the outer corners or through the middle for special occasions when I want extra 'oomph'. L-Curl & M-Curl: These are unique! They have a flat base that then lifts sharply upwards. L-curls are fantastic for hooded eyes or very straight lashes, as the flat base allows for better adhesion and a noticeable lift without poking the lid. M-curls are similar but often offer an even more aggressive, sharp lift. If you struggle with your lashes blending into a hooded eyelid, these 'cur' types can be a game-changer! My Secret for a 'Stacked' Look (and how I use the different lengths!): One of my favorite techniques to achieve a truly beautiful and customized look is combining different curl types and, crucially, different lengths. You might have seen mentions of lengths like 12(1), 13(2)stacked, 14(2)stacked, 15(1)stacked, 16(5)Stacked – these numbers represent the lash lengths in millimeters. What does 'stacked' mean here? It refers to either layering clusters on top of each other for density or, more commonly, creating a gradient effect with varying lengths and curls across your lash line to build dimension and volume. For example, to get that 'so pretty look at the outcome' you see in my pictures, I often start with shorter C-curls (like 12mm or 13mm) in my inner corners to keep it natural. Then, I transition to slightly longer C-curls (14mm) in the middle. For the outer corners, where I want the most drama, I'll switch to D-curls (15mm or even 16mm) to create that beautiful flare and lift. Sometimes, I'll even 'stack' a shorter C-curl underneath a longer D-curl in the same section to add extra density without making it look heavy. Tips for Choosing Your Perfect Curl: Consider Your Eye Shape: For round eyes, C or D curls can enhance, while B curls offer natural elegance. For almond eyes, most curls work, but C and D can really pop. Hooded or monolid eyes often benefit greatly from L or M curls for lift. Think About Your Natural Lashes: If your natural lashes are very straight, a stronger curl (C, D, L, M) might be needed to give them that noticeable lift. Desired Glam Level: J and B are for natural, everyday looks. C is versatile for both natural and subtle glam. D, L, and M are for those maximum impact, dramatic moments. Don't Be Afraid to Mix! As I mentioned, mixing curls and lengths is how you get truly customized results. It's like an artist blending colors to create a masterpiece! Experimentation is key! What works for one person might not work for another, and that's perfectly okay. Grab a few different curl types and lengths, and play around. You'll be amazed at the different looks you can create, and soon you'll find what makes your eyes truly sparkle! Happy lashing!
