This Era …

Lately, I’ve been noticing the gray hairs that seem to multiply overnight, the changes in my face, the reminders that time keeps moving whether I’m ready for it or not. And as I stand on the edge of 42, I find myself carrying a strange mix of gratitude and grief.

Not grief for my youth.

Grief for how quickly life happened.

I blinked, and the years were gone.

I spent so much of my life doing what needed to be done. Being responsible. Being dependable. Being the person others could count on. Raising my twins— who became my greatest accomplishments. Showing up every day, even when I was exhausted. Loving through heartbreak, surviving through pain, and carrying burdens that many people never saw.

And now, somehow, I’m preparing to become a grandmother to a beautiful baby girl.

A grandmother!!!!

How is that even possible when it feels like yesterday I was rocking babies to sleep?

The truth is, I look back sometimes and wonder where I went in all of it.

Not the mother.

Not the wife.

Not the employee.

Not the caretaker.

Just me.

Somewhere along the way, I became so busy building a life that I forgot to build parts of myself. I poured so much into everyone I loved that I often left very little for the woman staring back at me in the mirror.

Yet when my husband looks at me, he still sees beauty.

He still sees the woman he fell in love with.

He sees reasons to be confidence where I see flaws.

He sees strength where I see exhaustion.

He jokingly calls me “MILF material,” and while I laugh, the truth is that I struggle to see what he sees.

But maybe that’s part of this journey too.

Maybe the lesson at 42 isn’t learning how to look younger.

Maybe it’s learning how to finally see myself through the eyes of the people who love me.

To see the beauty in the gray hairs that were earned.

The beauty in the lines created by laughter and tears.

The beauty in a body that carried children, survived illness, endured heartbreak, and is still standing.

Maybe I need to stop mourning what time has taken and start honoring what time has given me.

Because I am not the young woman I once was.

I am something far more extraordinary.

I am a mother.

A wife.

A soon-to-be grandmother.

A survivor.

A woman who has loved deeply, sacrificed endlessly, and somehow kept going through it all.

And perhaps the greatest gift I can give myself now is to stop searching for the woman I used to be and finally embrace the woman I have become. ❤️‍🩹✨

She was worth becoming all along. ❤️

... Read moreNavigating the changes that come with age is a deeply personal experience that many can relate to. Approaching your 40s often brings a mix of emotions—gratitude for the life built and uncertainty about the future. What resonates strongly is the challenge of balancing responsibilities and still making space to nurture your own identity. Over the years, it's common to pour energy into roles like parent, partner, or caregiver, sometimes to the point where your own needs and desires become secondary. Facing the mirror and recognizing that the reflection holds stories of struggle, love, and survival is an important step toward self-compassion. I have found that embracing gray hairs and the lines on my face is not about resigning to aging but honoring the journey those marks represent. They tell of laughter shared, tears shed, and resilience in the face of hardship. This perspective shift—from mourning youth to celebrating experience—can be incredibly liberating. The support and affirmation from loved ones, especially partners who see beauty beyond physical appearance, help redefine confidence and self-worth. It's reassuring to know that the deepest connections often value the essence of who we are rather than the image we project. Preparing for roles such as becoming a grandmother can evoke a surprising blend of nostalgia and excitement. It offers a chance to reflect on life’s continuity and the legacy of love passed down through generations. Ultimately, learning to see yourself through the eyes of those who cherish you encourages a more accepting and positive self-view. This journey is about embracing every chapter as an extraordinary part of life’s tapestry, recognizing that the woman you have become is indeed worth celebrating and loving deeply.

The healing girl era requires boundaries.
Healing isn’t always pretty, but it’s powerful. Every time you say no, protect your peace, or walk away from what drains you ..that’s growth. That’s the work. You don’t owe anyone access to the version of you that’s still bleeding. #HealingEra #SoftGirlHealing #BoundariesAreBeautiful #
