🖤Heart Check: Are we just playing church?🤍

I’m going to be honest, this one may be one we don’t actually want to read—but it’s one we NEED to. 🕊️

In Jeremiah 7:9–10 (ESV), God asks:

“Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations?”

God was confronting the hypocrisy of His people. They claimed to belong to Him, but their lives told a very different story. They would enter His house, claiming to be delivered, while their lives were filled with disobedience and unrepentance—even engaging in truly evil acts, like sacrificing their own children (Jeremiah 7:31). It was a sobering picture of people going through the motions of worship while their hearts were far from God.

Are we doing the same today—showing up in His house on Sundays, only to return to lives consumed by compromise, distractions, and sin? We can’t honor God on Sundays and ignore His commandments the rest of the week. That kind of faith has no power to change us. God isn’t looking for a performance, but for a heart that truly belongs to Him.

🌿 Let this be our challenge:

• 🙏🏼 Real repentance over empty routine

• 📆 Daily faithfulness beyond weekend worship

• 💫 True transformation, not just a polished image

• 👑 Seeking Jesus as Lord, not just as Savior

It’s not just about being rescued—it’s about surrender. True faith means giving Him every part of our lives, not just our Sunday mornings. The good news? When we truly give Him our hearts, we find the freedom, peace, and purpose we were made for✨

... Read moreIn today’s world, many of us may relate to the struggle of maintaining genuine faith while becoming distracted by life. The message from Jeremiah 7 serves as a crucial reminder that merely attending church isn't enough. It raises questions about the authenticity of our worship: Are we fully surrendering to God, or are we holding onto our old habits and distractions? It’s important to consider what real repentance means. True repentance involves recognising our shortcomings and actively seeking to align our lives with God’s will. This type of faith encourages daily obedience, not just ritualistic attendance on Sundays. We must ask ourselves if we are living our faith daily and reflecting Jesus in our lives. Furthermore, transformation is at the heart of true spirituality. When we embrace a heart-felt relationship with God, we also open ourselves up to His transformative power. This change isn’t just superficial; it runs deep, motivating us to reflect Christ’s love and grace in our actions. When we seek genuine engagement with God, we are invited to experience peace, purpose, and freedom that surpasses any fleeting moment of worship. Ultimately, true faith asks for a whole-hearted commitment—every day and in every action. The challenge is to ensure that our faith practice doesn’t become a lifeless routine, but rather a vibrant journey that exemplifies our dedication to Christ. This journey leads us away from the performance mindset and toward a life of authentic worship and devotion.
