✨ Patience in Prayer✨
💭 Jeremiah 42 has been sitting heavy with me…
The remnant of Israel came to Jeremiah and begged him to pray. They sounded so desperate, so sincere. “Whether it is good or bad, we will obey the voice of the Lord our God…” (Jeremiah 42:6)
And Jeremiah does pray. FOR TEN DAYS.
For Jeremiah, I’m sure those ten days of prayer were a blessing. But for the people who weren’t present in the conversation with God? I bet it was nerve-racking. Ten days of silence. Ten days of wondering if God forgot them. Ten days of sitting in fear and uncertainty. They were human. Patience was hard. Their minds probably started running wild with backup plans, “just in case.”
Finally the answer comes. And it’s not what they wanted: Stay where you are. Trust Me here.
But by that point, their hearts were already leaning toward Egypt. They ignored God’s voice, took control back, and walked themselves straight into destruction.
🔥 How many times do we do this? We pray desperately… but then our patience runs out. We panic. We make our own plans. We say we’re giving it to God, but we still keep one hand on it. Or we pray… and then forget. We get distracted. We stop listening. We stop being present.
I wonder how many blessings and protections I’ve missed because I took things back into my own hands—or because I got distracted by day-to-day life.
I want to challenge you today to change your prayer life:
🙏 BE PRESENT — don’t drift or forget. Stay with God in prayer. Prayer is not passive. It’s not a quick text where we turn off our phone and walk away. It’s coming to Him personally and sitting at His feet while we wait to hear His voice.
⏳ BE PATIENT — wait for His answer, no matter how long. It could be 5 minutes, it could be five weeks.
🙌 BE 100 PERCENT — lay it ALL down. Don’t tease God with partial participation. Set everything down and TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF completely.
✝️ PRACTICE WHAT GOD SAYS. We may not like His plans, but His plans are always better than our own. “He works all things together for good”—a promise we can never reproduce on our own.
Because you can’t solve it by yourself. You solve it by dying to yourself… and letting God take control.

This means setting aside distractions, dedicating focused time to listen for God’s voice, and embracing the waiting period as a sacred space for spiritual growth. Just as Jeremiah prayed for ten days, we might also experience extended waiting that tests our trust. Second, cultivate resilience by embracing uncertainty without fear. It’s natural for the mind to race with concerns and backup plans, but practicing mindfulness and meditation on scripture can help anchor our hearts in God’s promises. Remember Romans 8:28, “He works all things together for good.” Third, surrender completely. Partial commitment can limit the blessings God intends. Lay down your worries, fears, and plans and relinquish control fully, trusting that God’s plans, even when unclear, are for your ultimate good. Lastly, live out the answers God provides, even when they differ from your desires. Obedience is an expression of faith, often unlocking deeper blessings and protection. Patience in prayer transforms not only outcomes but also our character, strengthening our faith journey. When we practice presence, patience, full surrender, and obedience, we align more closely with God’s will and invite His peace into our hearts. This journey, though challenging, leads to spiritual maturity and a vibrant, trusting relationship with God.
