Liminality

The threshold between letting go of what was and stepping into what is next. Providing a sacred incubation period for deep growth, rest, and personal reinvention, where old structures no longer apply, but the new has not yet fully formed.

Instead of being a frustrating waiting room, it is a vital phase of uncertainty and disorientation allowing for transformation. Striping away old identities and providing the necessary breathing room to integrate past lessons before taking on the next chapter.

It brings a natural "meaning vacuum" and a feeling of being suspended in time, invoking the concept of Ma—the meaningful emptiness between objects, actions, or sounds. Where instead of just being nothing, this space gives the things around it shape, clarity, and meaning. It teaches us that the "power" lies in the pauses between, allowing for clarity and perspective. Thus preventing mindless repetition of past mistakes, by offering space heal and re-evaluate.

Recognizing life as a series of "in-betweens" relieves the pressure of thinking you need to be permanently "figured out." Shifting the focus from reaching a final destination to living presently in the journey itself and ultimately, acting as a sacred bridge where deep inner work, healing, and transformation occur before we arrive at our NEXT destination.

Life is rarely defined by major milestones, but rather in the quiet, mundane, daily interactions that happen between the big achievements.

When you’re no longer where you started but not yet where you’re going, it can feel disorienting. However, embracing this suspended state allows you to shed old identities and habitual patterns that no longer serve you. During such times, I found that adopting the concept of 'Ma'—the meaningful emptiness or space between moments—helped me recognize the value in these pauses. Instead of rushing to the next step, sitting with the uncertainty created clarity and new perspectives. Life's 'in-betweens' became sacred spaces where healing and insight naturally surfaced. This approach reduced the pressure to have everything figured out immediately. It shifted my focus to appreciating the ongoing journey, not just the destination. The quiet, everyday moments became rich with meaning, preparing me for meaningful reinvention and authentic transformation. If you’re in a liminal phase right now, try to honor the space and time it provides. Use it for reflection, integrating lessons from your past, and envisioning your future path thoughtfully. Rather than resisting the uncertainty, lean into it—it’s where your true next chapter begins.
