Help! ! Wearing daily disposable contact lenses all night

I forgot to remove my daily disposable contact lenses before going to bed. When I woke up today, I said my right eye was a little blurry and I kept rubbing my eyes. I just brushed my teeth and noticed why my eyeballs had become so beautiful. I stared at them for a long time and thought about them, and realized something was wrong! ! ! Done! ! I seem to have forgotten to take out the eyeballs ! Will I go blind? #AskLemon8

... Read moreWearing contact lenses overnight is a common mistake that can lead to a range of eye health issues, including irritation, dryness, and increased risk of infections. If you've slept in your daily disposable lenses, it’s important to act quickly. First, remove the lenses as soon as you wake up. Your eyes may feel uncomfortable, but gently rehydrate them with saline or artificial tears. It's advisable to avoid putting your lenses back in for the rest of the day or until your eyes feel normal again. If you experience persistent redness, pain, or blurred vision, consult an eye care professional immediately. These can be signs of more serious complications like corneal ulcers or other infections. Regularly sleeping in contact lenses, even if they are designed for daily use, can escalate the risk of serious conditions. Therefore, always adhere to recommended wear times and listen to your body’s signals. Preventive measures such as setting reminders to remove your lenses and using a proper lens case can help avoid this situation in the future.

Optic/ophth tech here. One time is fine. You will not go blind. Just don’t try to do it again. Sleeping in contacts can lead to losing the lenses in your eyes, infection, coronal ulcer, etc. even w contacts that are “made” to be slept in. ALWAYS take them out, clean them, and let your eyes rest.
