Boyfriend mad at restaurant
A couple nights ago, me and my boyfriend went out to eat. Toward the end of the meal, I overheard staff behind the bar asking each other, “How do you say steak in Spanish?” I casually answered “carne… no, bistec.” They didn’t even acknowledge me, probably didn’t even hear.
But my boyfriend got upset. He accused me of “trying to get their attention” and wouldn’t let it go. This isn’t the first time — he once got mad because I joked “same dude!” when some guys walking by said they were hungry. He even threatened to leave me stranded on that trip.
He says in his culture, when a woman casually talks to men, the men assume it’s an “invitation.” To me, that sounds crazy. Now he’s giving me the silent treatment again, and honestly I’m exhausted.
Am I missing something here, or is this behavior as toxic as it feels?
Men who give the silent treatment are immature and more importantly he is trying to train you/bully you into a behavior he prefers you exhibit. You aren’t a dog to be trained. Leave now because what he is doing is the start of further manipulation.
