I found myself rooting for Millie throughout the story—her humor and resilience kept me entertained even during the tense moments. What stood out was how the author portrayed complex relationships, particularly between Nina, Millie, and Andrew. While I was frustrated with Nina’s harsh treatment of Millie early on, the story’s progression made the characters’ motivations clearer, which added depth to the narrative. The plot twist involving Andrew’s comeuppance was especially gratifying, delivering a sense of justice that many readers will appreciate. Also, small but impactful details, like Andrew’s mom’s biting comment at the end, added a layer of sharp wit that enhanced my enjoyment of the book. As someone who loves psychological thrillers, I can say this book is a compelling page-turner that keeps you guessing until the last chapter. Knowing that it’s soon to be adapted into a major motion picture only increases my anticipation. If you enjoy stories from behind closed doors revealing dark secrets and the complexity of human relationships, "The Housemaid" is a perfect pick.
