From personal observations, small-scale pig farmers often struggle with lack of resources, veterinary care, and protection against diseases, which exacerbate the decline. Moreover, younger generations are moving away from agriculture-based livelihoods, further endangering these traditional practices. Local initiatives such as #protect and #meikomyanmar reflect community-driven movements to raise awareness and provide support for these farmers. These movements advocate for better veterinary services, sustainable farming practices, and governmental assistance to ensure the survival of local pig breeds.
