I’ve noticed that when neither party sets the bare minimum expectation as a limit, but instead willingly goes the extra mile because they want to, it strengthens the bond. Acts of love and kindness no longer feel like tasks or obligations but genuine expressions of care. For example, small gestures that seem too trivial can actually have a huge impact when done with intention and love. True happiness in relationships stems from reciprocity—the idea that your happiness makes the other person happy and vice versa. This mutual respect and willingness to meet reasonable asks without resentment moves mountains. In my experience, the healthiest relationships balance individual needs with collective happiness, supporting each other through challenges while celebrating successes together. Establishing these standards encourages a mindset where love flows naturally, egos do not interfere, and both partners commit to nurturing the relationship consistently. It’s a lifelong practice but deeply rewarding, making every effort feel meaningful and strengthening the emotional foundation that binds you.
