Gym: Day 1
I’ve had many many many day 1s
But yesterday was my new day 1. To stay committed, Disciplined, and motivated to get back in the gym.
2.5-3 years ago I created the body I imagined of having. The nice back, the nice a**. Then I stopped going to the gym. I started gaining weight. All those big back Tik-Tok meals reeled me in 😭😭
So will today be your Day 1? Or are you still going to say “1 day”.. cause let’s be real. Summer is only getting closer and that bag of chips and soda ain’t gone build you the body you want 💀
Let’s lock in.
Just wait 90 days from now I’ll be where I wanna be (for the most part) 🤍
yall with me?
So, you're ready to lock in for your own 'Day 1' and build that summer body? Awesome! I know when I first started, figuring out a workout routine felt super overwhelming. That's why I'm sharing a simple push/pull workout plan that's been a game-changer for me, especially for building muscle. It's perfect if you're a beginner or just getting back into it, like I am! What exactly is a push/pull workout? It's pretty straightforward: you dedicate certain days to 'pushing' movements (like chest, shoulders, triceps), and other days to 'pulling' movements (like back, biceps). This allows each muscle group to recover properly while you work other parts of your body. It’s super effective for muscle building and makes planning your gym days much easier. Here’s a snapshot of what my week looks like, and honestly, it’s what helped me see results before. Remember, adjust weights and reps to what feels challenging but safe for *you*. Always warm up before and stretch after! My Push Day (Chest, Shoulders, Triceps): Bench Press (or Dumbbell Press): 3 sets of 8-12 reps. I love feeling that chest activation! Overhead Shoulder Press (Dumbbells or Barbell): 3 sets of 8-12 reps. For those rounded shoulders! Incline Dumbbell Press: 3 sets of 10-15 reps. Lateral Raises: 3 sets of 12-15 reps. To build those wider shoulders. Triceps Pushdowns (Cable machine): 3 sets of 10-15 reps. Overhead Triceps Extension: 3 sets of 10-15 reps. My Pull Day (Back, Biceps): Lat Pulldowns: 3 sets of 8-12 reps. My favorite for building that 'nice back' I mentioned! Barbell Rows (or Dumbbell Rows): 3 sets of 8-12 reps. Remember to keep your back straight! Face Pulls: 3 sets of 12-15 reps. Great for shoulder health and upper back. Bicep Curls (Dumbbells or Barbell): 3 sets of 10-15 reps. For those arm gains! Hammer Curls: 3 sets of 10-15 reps. And don't forget Leg Day! (Which often includes glutes, essential for that 'nice a'!). Squats (Barbell or Goblet): 3 sets of 8-12 reps. Romanian Deadlifts (RDLs): 3 sets of 10-15 reps. Fantastic for hamstrings and glutes. Leg Press: 3 sets of 10-15 reps. Lunges (Dumbbell): 3 sets of 10-12 reps per leg. Glute Bridges (or Hip Thrusts): 3 sets of 12-15 reps. Seriously good for glute activation! If you’re just starting out, remember these tips: Form over weight: Always prioritize correct form to prevent injuries and ensure muscle activation. Watch videos, or even better, ask a gym staff member for a quick form check. Progressive Overload: Aim to gradually increase your weight, reps, or sets over time. That's how muscles grow! Rest and Recovery: Your muscles grow when you rest, not just when you lift. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep. Nutrition: Fuel your body! Focus on protein, healthy carbs, and fats. Those 'big back Tik-Tok meals' are fine sometimes, but consistency is key. Consistency:** Showing up is half the battle. Even on days you don't feel like it, just get there. The OCR image says "3 MONTHS TIL SUMMER" – sticking to a plan like this for the next 90 days can make a huge difference. You'll be amazed at what you can achieve!
