Our job involves a meticulous, multi-step process: from decontamination, where we initially clean soiled instruments, through careful inspection for any damage or debris, to assembly into precise surgical trays, and finally, sterilization using high-tech equipment like autoclaves. We're essentially the barrier between patients and potential infections, ensuring that every tool is safe and ready for use in the operating room. It's a high-stakes job that requires incredible attention to detail, precision, and an unwavering commitment to quality standards. During Sterile Processing Week, hospitals and outpatient centers like mine often go above and beyond to show appreciation for their SPD teams.
