N.C. state fair 🎡

Oh my goodness, the NC State Fair with my family and sisters was truly an absolute blast this year! Every time I visit, it just brings back so many wonderful memories, and this trip to Raleigh was no exception. If you're planning your own visit, or just curious about what makes our state fair so special, let me spill some of my favorite highlights and tips! First off, the atmosphere is just electric. As soon as you step in, the smells of popcorn and fried dough fill the air, and the sounds of laughter and carnival music instantly put a smile on your face. We always make a beeline for the rides! Seeing the giant Ferris wheel lit up against the evening sky is truly magical – it’s a must-do for the views alone. There are so many other thrilling rides too, from classic carousels for the little ones to exhilarating roller coasters for the daredevils in the group. And you can't forget the carnival games! My sister and I had a go at the basketball toss, hoping to win some of those giant stuffed animals. It's all part of the fun, even if you walk away empty-handed! Now, let's talk about the food – because seriously, is it even the State Fair without indulging a little? My absolute favorite has to be the funnel cake, especially with some fresh strawberry sauce and a dusting of powdered sugar. There’s just something about that crispy, sweet goodness! But don't stop there. You'll find everything from juicy turkey legs and corn dogs to deep-fried Oreos and candied apples. My personal advice? Go with an empty stomach and be ready to share so you can try a bit of everything! Beyond the rides and food, I always love exploring some of the unique exhibits. This year, the North Carolina State Fair Flower & Garden Show was absolutely breathtaking. The displays of vibrant chrysanthemums were just stunning, and it’s such a peaceful contrast to the bustling midway. We even took some beautiful photos in front of the colorful flower arrangements. It's a fantastic spot to just take a moment and appreciate the beauty. You can also find agricultural exhibits, craft showcases, and live entertainment that really highlight the best of our state. We even got a fun caricature drawing of our family – a perfect little souvenir to remember the day by, complete with 'Saint Hil' and '2024' to mark the occasion! To make the most of your fair day, here are a few quick tips: Wear comfortable shoes – you’ll be doing a lot of walking! Plan your visit, especially if you have specific shows or attractions you want to see. Hydrate frequently, especially on warm days. And if you’re going with family, pick a meeting spot in case you get separated. Most importantly, just soak it all in and enjoy the unique charm of the NC State Fair.
