First and foremost, type advantage is key. Deoxys is pure Psychic, making it weak to Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type attacks. You need a team packed with high-DPS Pokémon from these types. Pay close attention to Deoxys's charge moves; in my battle, Deoxys frequently used Psycho Boost. Learning to dodge these can significantly extend your Pokémon's lifespan and allow them to deal more damage. Timing your own charge attacks perfectly between Deoxys's moves is also crucial for maximizing your output. Don't forget to use Mega Evolutions if you have a strong Bug, Dark, or Ghost type Mega available, as they boost damage for all Pokémon of their type on the field. So, is Deoxys strong as a raid boss? Absolutely! With a raid boss CP of around 41036 (as seen in my battle), Deoxys demands respect. Its various forms (Normal, Attack, Defense, Speed) also influence its stats, with Attack Forme being particularly fragile but dishing out massive damage, and Defense Forme being a tank. Understanding which form you're facing can help tailor your strategy, but generally, focusing on its Psychic weakness remains paramount. Even though it's strong, with the right team and strategy, it's definitely beatable solo! Now, let's talk about the best moves for Deoxys itself, in case you're wondering what its optimal movesets are once you catch it. For raid attackers, especially the Attack Forme, a moveset like Psycho Boost and Zen Headbutt provides fantastic Psychic-type damage. For PvP, its various forms have different optimal moves, but generally, Counter, Psycho Boost, and Thunderbolt/Rock Slide are popular options depending on the form and league. However, for the purpose of beating Deoxys in a raid, we're more concerned with the moves our Pokémon use! Speaking of our Pokémon, let's highlight some of the stars of my solo Deoxys raid, and how you can build similar teams. My best Hydreigon build was central to my success. Hydreigon, being a Dark/Dragon type, is a phenomenal counter to Deoxys. For optimal performance against Psychic raid bosses, you want a Hydreigon with Dark-type fast and charge moves. My Hydreigon, often equipped with Brutal Swing and Dark Pulse, was a beast in the raid, consistently dishing out 'Super Effective' damage. Brutal Swing, in particular, is an incredibly powerful Dark-type move that can melt through Deoxys's health bar. Beyond Hydreigon, my team featured a strong lineup of Dark and Ghost attackers. I had Necrozma with Moongeist Beam in my lineup, and its Ghost-type attacks were absolutely crucial, hitting Deoxys for 'Super Effective' damage. My Yveltal, armed with Dark Pulse, also proved to be a powerhouse, leveraging its Dark typing against Deoxys. For other strong Ghost-type options, a Pokémon like what I called 'Photon' (similar to a Chandelure or Gengar) with Shadow Ball and Breaking Swipe is a must-have for its consistent 'Super Effective' DPS. The OCR also showed a Pokémon named 'Scorpion' using Fire Spin, and while Fire isn't super effective, a strong generalist or a Bug/Dark type with other powerful moves, like Bug Buzz (also seen in the OCR), would be excellent for their super effective damage. I also utilized 'Sungam' with Crunch, dealing consistent Dark-type damage, and 'Luc' (perhaps a Lucario or similar strong attacker) with Brutal Swing, a fantastic Dark-type move that helped chip away at Deoxys. Building a diverse team of high-level Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type Pokémon with their best movesets is your ticket to soloing Deoxys. Don't be afraid to experiment with different combinations, and make sure your Pokémon are powered up. It's all about exploiting those weaknesses and having enough raw damage output.
