NEW PLANT BABY PHILODENDRON SPLENDID ✨

... Read moreI'm absolutely over the moon about my newest plant baby – a stunning Philodendron Splendid! Like many of you, I've been dreaming of adding this beauty to my collection, and seeing those dark green, velvety leaves in person is just incredible. The moment I unboxed her, I was obsessed! The description of 'two large, dark green, velvety leaves, supported by a moss pole in a clear pot' perfectly captures what first drew me in. Those prominent veins and unique texture truly make this Philodendron splendid. For anyone who's just brought home a Philodendron Splendid, or is thinking about getting one, I wanted to share my initial experience and some care tips that I've found helpful for this magnificent plant. When I first got her, I made sure to place her in a spot with bright, indirect light. Direct sun can scorch those beautiful velvety leaves, so a little distance from a window is perfect. I also noticed she came with a moss pole, which is fantastic because Philodendron Splendids are natural climbers and love to have something to root into as they grow. This support is key not only for stability but also for encouraging the plant to produce larger, more mature leaves over time. Watering is another crucial aspect of Philodendron Splendid care. I always check the top inch or two of the soil, and if it feels dry, that's my cue to water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom. These plants don't like to sit in soggy soil, so good drainage is a must. High humidity is also a game-changer for these aroids, especially for those luscious, velvety leaves. I've been using a humidifier nearby, and I occasionally mist the leaves, though some prefer pebble trays. Anything to keep the air moist helps prevent crispy edges and promotes lush growth. One of the most exciting parts of having a Philodendron Splendid is watching a new leaf unfurl. It's truly a spectacle! The new leaves often emerge in a lighter shade, slowly darkening as they mature, and seeing that distinctive velvety texture and prominent veins develop is just magical. To support this growth, especially during the spring and summer, I give my plant a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every few weeks. This gives it the nutrients it needs to push out those gorgeous new leaves. As your Philodendron Splendid matures, you'll find it becomes even more impressive, with its characteristic heart-shaped, deeply textured leaves growing larger and more pronounced. It's a journey, and I can't wait to see how big and splendid my plant baby becomes! If you're looking for a statement plant that brings a touch of tropical elegance to your home, the Philodendron Splendid is definitely one to consider. It's a rewarding plant to care for, and those velvety leaves are worth every bit of effort!
