I got the incredible opportunity to read this arc book, and this is my first time reading a book from this author. I’m such a sucker for single dad tropes, so you know I ate this up. This story is about Braxton who lives in New York as an investment banker, and he just found out that he’s a dad to a four year old Ollie who he never knew existed. Braxton goes half way across the world to Moonstruck Cove in Australia where his parents live, so they can help him figure out how to raise a child he just got custody of. That’s where Joey comes in, Joey loves her small town and all the people. She’s an incredible painter and teaches art classes, she even teaches Ollie. This book was so heartwarming and I absolutely couldn’t put it down!!!
... Read moreOkay, so I just shared my initial thoughts on 'Moonstruck Kiss' and I really can't stop thinking about it! If you're anything like me, you live for a good romance novel that just sweeps you off your feet. This book by Miranda P. Charles really hit all the right notes for me, especially with those classic tropes that we all adore.
First off, let's talk about the single dad romance trope. Seriously, what's not to love? There’s something incredibly endearing about a man who’s navigating parenthood while also trying to find love again. It adds so much depth to the characters – you see their vulnerability, their protective instincts, and their capacity for unconditional love. In 'Moonstruck Kiss,' seeing Braxton grapple with suddenly becoming a father to Ollie, and then watching him open up to Joey, just melts your heart. It’s always a journey of growth, not just for the couple, but for the whole makeshift family. It brings in an element of real-life challenges that makes the romance feel even more earned and precious.
Then there's the small town romance. Oh, the charm! Moonstruck Cove sounds like the kind of place where everyone knows your name, and community is everything. These settings are perfect for slow-burn romances because the characters are often forced to interact, and their paths keep crossing. There’s a certain magic in finding love in a close-knit community, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It often means quirky side characters, beautiful scenery, and a sense of belonging that's hard to beat. It truly lets the connection between the main characters, like Braxton and Joey, build organically and authentically.
You know, the cover itself, with that handsome, perhaps shirtless man in an open shirt, hints at the kind of romantic tension and passion that makes these stories so addictive. It promises a journey of discovery and intense connection. And speaking of tension, the slow burn aspect is pure gold. It's all about that delicious anticipation, the stolen glances, the subtle touches, and the emotional build-up that makes the eventual coming together so much more satisfying. It’s not about instant gratification but about watching two souls truly connect on a deeper level. The cover also hinted at an 'enemies to lovers' dynamic, which, even if it's a mild version, adds a fantastic layer of playful banter and initial friction that often blossoms into undeniable chemistry. Who doesn't love watching characters go from bickering to hopelessly in love?
What I loved most about 'Moonstruck Kiss' was how Miranda P. Charles wove these elements together into a story that was both poignant and genuinely heartwarming. It's not just about the romance; it’s about second chances, finding your place, and building a family in unexpected ways. If you're looking for a book that will make you feel all the feels, with engaging characters and a beautiful setting, then this is definitely one to grab. Seriously, add it to your TBR – you won't regret it!
