Late nights and sample books. ☕📑

4/12 Edited to

... Read moreWorking from home has truly transformed how I approach creative projects, especially when it involves something as tactile and detailed as selecting material swatches for interior design. Late nights spent surrounded by books and samples, often with a cup of coffee by my side, become a quiet ritual that fuels my focus and imagination. The process of matching grains and textures to a client's vision requires more than just aesthetic judgment—it demands understanding their lifestyle, preferences, and how the materials will age over time. I’ve found that organizing sample books and physically feeling each swatch helps me connect with the materials beyond a visual level, which digital previews often lack. One tip I’ve learned is to consider not just the look but also the practicality—durability, maintenance, and how the material interacts with light in the actual space can make or break the design. It's exciting to see how seemingly subtle differences in texture or color can dramatically influence the ambience of a room. Additionally, working from home eliminates commuting time, giving me extra hours to experiment and dive deeper into creative exploration. It also offers flexibility to collaborate remotely with clients and suppliers, allowing quick feedback when selecting or discarding options. Moreover, incorporating local materials can add a unique touch to renovations. For instance, incorporating elements inspired by Singaporean homes, possibly reflected by the "S三C" mark seen on some samples, helps create interiors that resonate culturally and environmentally. Overall, these late-night sessions with sample books are more than just routine work; they are moments where creativity meets thoughtful decision-making, ensuring every renovation tells a personalized story through its materials.

The Catcher in the Rye Left Me Lost 😶‍🌫️
We get why The Catcher in the Rye splits readers — it’s raw, honest, and full of restless energy. We liked Holden’s dark humour and his bond with Phoebe, and the ending, where he accepts he can’t protect every child’s innocence, felt quietly moving. But the constant cynicism, repetition, and bursts
