Creating myself
I’m in the space where I’m reprogramming A LOT of the indoctrination society puts us through. In that I’m reclaiming my freedom. It’s really simple though. Rest is radical and putting yourself first is revolutionary. Especially as a black woman in American. It starts with self care and the balance of mind body and soul. Let’s start there #embracevulnerabilty #authenicityisablessing💪🏼#expressyourself #blackwomenlemon8 #letschat
In my journey of creating myself, I’ve found that redefining what freedom means is essential. Society often imposes unwritten rules and expectations that limit how we express our true selves, particularly for Black women. Through intentional self-care—whether that's prioritizing rest, mindfulness, or nurturing my emotional and spiritual health—I’ve begun to dismantle those deeply ingrained narratives. One personal breakthrough was embracing rest as a necessary and radical form of resistance. In a world that often values hustle over wellbeing, choosing to pause became an act of self-love and defiance. This mindset shift started balancing my mind, body, and soul and allowed me to reconnect with my authentic desires and goals. Additionally, embracing vulnerability helped deepen my connection to myself and my community. Sharing my struggles and successes openly allowed me to claim my unique identity without fear. This authenticity has been empowering—not just personally—but as part of a collective experience of Black women supporting one another through similar journeys. I also learned the importance of setting boundaries and saying no to societal pressures or expectations that do not align with my wellbeing. This act is revolutionary because it preserves my energy and reinforces my freedom to live on my own terms. Overall, creating myself isn’t about a perfect transformation but a continuous process of unlearning, reclaiming, and embracing all parts of who I am. I encourage others to start where they feel safe—whether it’s through small acts of self-care or deeper exploration of identity—and to recognize that their freedom, rest, and authenticity matter immensely.
