Private University vs Public College
When I was deciding which college to finish my education at, where I would be studying for my bachelor’s degree, I took a lot of factors into consideration, including but not limited to the following:
1. Price/Scholarships
Obviously price is a huge factor when it comes to college. I compared tuition and scholarship estimates for a few colleges and universities that I had applied to and narrowed the list down from there first.
2. Location
This would be my first experience living away from my parents, so I knew that I wanted to attend a college close to home but far enough away that I still felt independent.
3. Class size
Personally, I don’t do well in large class sizes because I have found that it’s harder to get one on one help from professors. So I took the student to instructor ratios into consideration when I was looking into my last few options for colleges.
4. The vibe/community
Why would I choose to attend a college that I don’t feel at home or comfortable in? When I took tours I made sure to observe how everyone interacted with not just myself, but others as well. This helped me make my final decision and convinced me that I made the right choice once I began my own education in the fall semester.
