Okay, so like many of you, I'm absolutely obsessed with Crumbl Cookies! Every week, I eagerly await the new lineup, and when I saw their Beetlejuice cookie, officially known as 'The Afterlife Cake,' join the menu, I knew I had to try it. I even saw the cool display at the Crumbl store counter, showcasing its unique design. The theme itself is so fun, and the cookie looked so promising, with its distinct black and white swirl frosting and those vibrant green and purple sprinkles – it really captured the movie's vibe, especially with that neat 'BEETLEJUICE SEE THE MOVIE' pick stuck right in it. Walking into my local Crumbl, which usually has those handy self-order kiosks, I picked up one of those iconic pink Crumbl boxes, eagerly anticipating my first bite. My initial impression of 'The Afterlife Cake' was all about its appearance. It truly is a visual treat; the frosting pattern is striking, and the sprinkles add a playful touch. It’s definitely one for the Instagram stories! Now, for the taste test. The article mentions it's a 'very thick chocolate cake,' and I completely agree. The base is a substantial chocolate cake cookie, quite rich and dense. You know that deep, almost fudge-like chocolate flavor? It's definitely there. The frosting, while visually appealing, had a sweetness that sometimes overpowered the chocolate cake, especially since the cookie itself was so robust. Here's where my main point from the original review comes in: it really needed to be warm. Crumbl cookies are often best when they're still slightly warm, right? That warmth usually brings out the gooeyness, melts the chocolate chips (if any), and softens the texture, making it almost melt-in-your-mouth. For 'The Afterlife Cake,' being served at room temperature made the thick chocolate cake feel a bit too heavy and solid. I kept imagining how much better that rich chocolate base would have been if it had been heated up, allowing the flavors to meld and the texture to become more tender. It would have transformed it from a solid cookie into more of a decadent dessert experience. Compared to some of Crumbl's other chocolate offerings, like their classic Chocolate Chip or even some of their browner, fudgier cookies, the Beetlejuice one felt a little less dynamic without that warmth. It has potential, though! If you're a die-hard chocolate cake fan, and you prefer a denser, richer cookie, you might actually enjoy it more than I did. My advice? If you get your hands on a 'Beetlejuice crumbl cookie' and it's not warm, pop it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. It might just unlock its full potential. So, while I'm usually a 10/10 Crumbl loyalist, 'The Afterlife Cake' landed a 5 out of 10 for me. It's not bad, but it didn't quite hit the mark for that signature Crumbl magic I often crave. It's still a fun, themed cookie, and if you're a fan of the movie or just love a very dense chocolate cake, give it a try – but try to warm it up first!
