This book absolutely destroyed me. It tore me from the inside out. I had to take a long needed break because of the physical reactions I was getting. With that being said this book is definitely is one of my favorites- the author really knows how to get you to feel. When I was reading I did find myself not able to put the book down until I could not take it any more- This was a real page turner. I do not even know where to start with the roller coaster of emotions that this book inflected on me.
Since this is the second book in the series - I had already made connections with the characters. My heart ached for Adeline and I almost took the feeling of need of knowing she was going to survive on my shoulders even on my break of reading the book I couldn't stop thinking about it. I will say that this book was A LOT heavier than the first. It touched on some pretty triggering subjects.
Hunting Adeline is NOT for the faint of heart. I think the story telling was great and even easy to follow. Zade is a whooooole other conversation. Everything about that man is a masterpiece. His persistence, his will, his protection. Absolutely amazing.
Okay, let's dive deeper into why Hunting Adeline absolutely consumed me! If you're searching for a book that perfectly blends dark romance with elements of horror, mystery, and even a touch of fantasy, then you've found your next read. This isn't just a book; it's an experience that leaves you breathless and utterly changed. From the moment I picked it up, the dark aesthetic of the story, much like the mood evoked by its cover art showing a woman in a black dress amidst bare trees, pulled me in. It's a visually striking atmosphere that perfectly sets the stage for the intense journey ahead. This book truly lives up to its 'dark romance aesthetic' queries, painting a grim yet captivating world. Many of you might be curious about the genre, and let me tell you, Hunting Adeline is quintessentially dark romance. It doesn't shy away from mature themes, featuring explicit content and what many would refer to as 'smut' — so if you're looking for those spicy chapters, you'll definitely find them here. The author handles these scenes with a raw honesty that contributes to the overall intensity of the plot, rather than just being there for shock value. It's truly not for the faint of heart, diving into deeply triggering subjects that require careful consideration before jumping in. Now, let's talk about Zade Meadows. Oh, Zade. He is, without a doubt, a character that will live in your head rent-free. My feelings about him are complex, but what I can say is his protective nature, his unwavering persistence, and his sheer will make him an unforgettable presence. He’s the kind of morally grey character that you can't help but be fascinated by, embodying the 'Touch her and die' ethos that some dark romance fans adore. His character development, and the push and pull with Adeline, are central to the book's powerful narrative. As the second book in the series, Hunting Adeline takes everything up a notch. The plot summary involves a high-stakes scenario where Adeline's survival is paramount, and the emotional toll on the reader is immense. I found myself thinking about her constantly, even when I had to put the book down for a breather. The multiple POV storytelling, hinted at in the OCR, really allows you to immerse yourself in the characters' minds and understand their motivations, adding layers to the mystery and horror elements. If you're looking for a book that will challenge you, make you feel deeply, and keep you on the edge of your seat with its dark themes and gripping narrative, Hunting Adeline is a must-read. It's a journey through darkness, but one that is incredibly compelling. I personally would give it a solid 4-star rating for its ability to evoke such strong emotions and for its masterful storytelling. Have you read Hunting Adeline?
