A beginners guide to waist training 🌹

💋 I’ve been training with corsets for over 10 years now, since I was in highschool. I have learned a lot of things over the years with wearing corsets and waist training, especially as my body developed into a more mature adult and as a plus size woman. Im also a history buff and goth fanatic so I loved learning about the history of corsets and tightlacing and wanting to look like vampira lol ~ so I have been intrigued by it since I was a child.

Im currently at my natural waist 33” and I can fit a corset that is 28” or 26”. My body measurements are of a hourglass ( 45-33-44) but that’s not due to a corset thats just my natural shape. My corset enhances my waist to seem smaller therefore exaggerating my hourglass figure. Even though this can be a result- I am not the standard for results. All body shapes are different, beautiful and unique! You have to find a corset for your body and your shape.

This is a beginner friendly step by step introduction to sizing, buying and wearing a corset for the first time.

🕷️when learning how to measure for a corset I recommend measuring frequently over the year to see if you need to size down or even go up a few sizes due to weight fluctuations or drastic changes to your body. It’s okay if your corset size has changed- thats completely normal.

🕷 for buying corsets I recommend choosing a mesh corset thats flexible and can be worn for longer periods- especially if you want to wear it to work. It can fashionable but also practical! It’s also easier in my opinion to season with a mesh corset due to the fact that it’s breathable and can mold better to the body over time.

🕷️Do not be afraid of time! Time actually will help you achieve the waist of your dreams. Waist / corset training is a practice that will show difference over time, it is not a quick result. You have to be okay with consistency , also don’t rush to tightlace! It’s okay if you can’t tighten all the way at first, you will get there.

🕷️you are not going to look like an hour glass without a corset lol. You will eventually see the effect of a corset over time with your waist but unless you get your ribs removed or a bbl you most likely won’t see your natural body shrink to how it looks with a corset on. Again it enhances your waist over time for a dramatic look- it does not change your body shape.

🕷️ I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING CHEAP CORSETS TO TIGHTLACE they are bulky and cheaply made. Now they can be worn for aesthetic purposes or even for an outfit occasionally - but don’t wear them to tightlace for hours or to waist train. They are not durable enough. Authentic corsets are made with strong steel bone inserts to help shape your body and contour over time.

🕷️ i recommend checking out orchard corsets- they are an online website that can help you with any questions regarding sizing and even help you choose the right corset that will work for your body and waist.

🕷️don’t forget to rest- you can always take breaks with wearing corsets! But make sure you season if you take breaks frequently

... Read moreHey everyone! After over a decade of personal waist training, I've learned that getting the basics right, especially measurements, is absolutely foundational for a comfortable and effective experience. Many of you search for 'how to measure natural waist' and 'natural waist measurement diagrams,' and honestly, it's the absolute first step for 'waist trainer beginners'! Let's really dig into taking those crucial body measurements – almost like having a detailed diagram right in front of you. Getting Your Measurements Right: A Step-by-Step Guide for Corset Fitting Before picking out any corset, knowing your precise body measurements is crucial. Grab a flexible tape measure – no guesswork! Natural Waist (The Core Measurement): This is paramount! To find it, gently bend to one side; the crease that forms is your natural waistline. It’s typically the narrowest part of your torso, often just above your belly button and below your lowest rib. Stand relaxed, exhale, and measure around this point. Keep the tape snug, but not tight, ensuring it's parallel to the floor. This 'natural waist location female diagram' is vital for corset sizing. My OCR images often highlight this as 'Step 1: Learning how to measure.' Underbust: Measure directly under your bust, where your bra band typically sits. This helps in choosing between underbust and overbust styles for a comfortable fit. Upper Hip: Measure around the top of your hip bones, usually where a standard underbust corset will end. This prevents it from being too tight or loose at the bottom. Torso Length: This can make or break comfort! Sit upright and measure from your underbust down to your lap (upper hip point). This determines if you need a standard, short, or long-line corset, preventing digging into thighs or being too short. This aligns with your 'natural waistline location diagram' for vertical fit. Choosing Your First Corset: Matching Style to Your Unique Shape With measurements, you’re ready to consider corset styles. The OCR noted 'understanding your size, shape and style' and mentioned 'hourglass, pear, or banana shapes.' For beginners, selecting the right type makes a huge difference. Underbust Corsets: Highly recommended for beginners. They sit just below the bust to the upper hip, offering excellent waist reduction without affecting your bust. Versatile and easier for daily wear. Waist Cinchers/Waspies: Shorter, focusing solely on the waist for a subtle cinching effect. Great for layering or shorter torsos. Remember: 'DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING CHEAP CORSETS TO TIGHTLACE.' Authentic corsets with steel boning are designed for durability and effective shaping. They are an investment in comfort and results. The Art of Seasoning: Your Corset's Best Friend for Longevity Finally, let's talk 'seasoning your corset' – a critical step highlighted in the OCR. This isn't just a recommendation; it's essential for comfort and longevity. Gradual Introduction: Start by wearing your new corset for only 1-2 hours daily, laced very lightly. Slow Progression: Over 2-3 weeks, gradually increase wear time by an hour daily, and ever-so-slightly tighten the laces. Never go for immediate 'tightlacing'! Comfort is Key: You should never feel pain or extreme pressure. The goal is gentle molding, allowing the corset to conform to your unique body contours. This process ensures the fabric and boning adapt, creating a truly custom and comfortable fit over time. By taking these steps, especially focusing on accurate measurements and patient seasoning, your waist training journey will be much more enjoyable and effective. Happy lacing, everyone!
